The kidnappers felt that they were not well prepared and the next time they would go better prepared with a plan. Though Paul's wife was the weaker link in the gang and she always posed a threat to the group of getting caught.
Paul decided this time to keep his wife at home when going for the next kidnapping mission. This time they decided to not be in a hurry and wait for the right moment. They kept monitoring the movement of the children in their surroundings. They were waiting for the moment when there would be absolutely no one around and they can get hold of some child.
It came to their notice that there was one area where the children gathered to play at late evening and when they finished one of the child had to cross by a very silent street to reach to his home. They found this a very good opportunity and planned for their next kidnapping mission.
2 days later, they got prepared to kidnap the child. As always the boy was returning home late evening after the play time and they managed to grab the boy and kidnap him. They made him unconscious so that he would not make any noise. This time all the luck was favoring them, because that narrow empty street had no CCTV as well, so they had no fear of getting caught on camera.
When the boy did not return home his parents got restless and started calling up his friends, they all were home by this time. The parents got very worried and they immediately went to the police. The police immediately started the search, they checked the CCTV footages of that street and realized that one of those narrow streets had no camera. There was nothing that even recorded the entry and exit points of this street. They immediately knew that this was the place from where the boy had got abducted.
The police realized that this was someone from the local area who knew about this lonesome street and was monitoring it well. They started going to each home in the area to check. In the mean time at Paul's place the child was locked up in one room blindfolded and with his hands and mouth tied up. They gave him food and water time to time and threatened him that if he would shout they would kill him.
The next day, Paul went a km away from his area and from a public phone booth made a call to the boy's father asking for money and threatening him that if he would call the police they would kill the boy. Nevertheless the boy's home phone was tapped without the knowledge of his parents and the police could get the location from where the call was made.
The police reached out to the father and told him that they had tapped the call and got to know about the ransom demand. The boy's father was nervous, he did not wish the police to intervene but the police did not give up. They told him that he should agree on the demand and ask him to meet. Next time Paul made a call from another phone booth from another location, which was also tapped. Paul gave the father the location to deliver the money. The boy's father was asked to leave the money near one of the garbage bin which was a few 100 meters away from the home and by the time he would return home they would find the boy home to be assured. Paul had selected that location because there were no CCTV cameras in that area. The police was aware of this and they left a van over there a day before with a hidden camera in it.
As per the location given the boy's father reached there with the bag of money and left it. After some time Paul reached there and collected the bag. He made a call to one of his gang member asking to release the boy and let him go home. The boy was blind folded all the time from the moment he was kidnapped. He was taken to the same empty street and left there blind folded. The little boy when left there realized that he was now alone there and started shouting for help struggling to free his hand and remove the cloth from his eyes. He managed to do that after some struggle, because the kidnappers had left it lose for him to open up. He rushed to his home to his parents.
In the mean time, Paul was caught on camera collecting the money. As soon as he reached home, he was caught by the police, the money was given back to the father and paul, his wife and friends were all taken under arrest.
Paul was not a seasoned criminal hence he had left many loose ends to get caught, though in this instance he was very cautious but his plan was still not very strong to cover them up and finally the kidnapper gang was arrested. Everyone in the locality were very happy with the way the police had handled the case.
