For this week @LadiesofHive - Contest #199 questions are:
1️⃣ Based on your own job hunting and work experiences, which do you prefer, working from home as a freelancer, or working outside the home where you get stable monthly pay? Why?
~ 𝐀𝐍𝐃 / 𝐎𝐑 ~
2️⃣ Explore how each option (Freelancing vs. Traditional Employment) impacts work–life balance, considering factors such as time management, personal freedom, and the demands of clients vs employers.
I have experienced both of these. I have worked in a permanent office job for 20 years and now since the last 10 years have been freelancing. It's very difficult to say either one is best, because both of them have their own pros and cons. Still I feel from my own personal experience that freelancing has an upper hand for me.
Working in a fixed permanent office job, one thing is for sure that on every 1st of the month you will have your pay-check, this is the only big advantage of a fixed office job, other than this I do not see any other big advantage. But then to think of it, money is all that we work for, so it is the most important thing to consider.
As a freelancer you can work on your own terms and conditions, you can work on your own timings, you have freedom to plan your holidays the way you want. There are many advantages but there are disadvantages also, there is no fixed income, even your regular clients can withdraw from you any moment and there is tough competition these days for every business. If you become little lazy then you can easily lose your client. Discipline is very important when you have your own thing to do. You need to set some routine for yourself to accomplish your goals.
When you go to office, you have clear instructions of what job has to be done, but when you work for yourself you have to have to be clear of what you want to achieve and then plan your actions. In an office job you will have some kind of motivation in terms of the company's rewards and recognition programs, whereas in your own job you will have to be your own motivation. In an office job when you take leave you will still get paid, whereas when you have your own work possibly you may not have income during the times you take a break.
On the other hand working for self has no limitations, you can increase your income with your efforts, like a job you will not get fixed money, you will get worth your effort. You will be free to plan your day as per your needs which will allow you to take care of your family needs as well. You are your own boss, there is no one sitting on your head telling you to do things and this is what I enjoy the most.
It all depends on what are your talents in life and what are your requirements. If your talent is not much of demand in the market or a low paying talent then probably a job will be ideal. But if you have some skills which are niche and you can get good money from it then sky is the limit and one must go ahead with free-lancing. At the end of the day it's also about one's confidence level in doing these things.
