Ladies of Hive Community Contest #208 - Self care routines

The @Ladiesofhive Contest - #208 questions this week are:
1️⃣ We are in Pink month, a month in which we must reflect on self-care to face one of the worst diseases in the world — breast cancer. Tell us how you take care of yourself. Do you keep your preventive exams up to date? What do you think about this disease?

2️⃣ In life, we have good days and not-so-good days, I think that on a not-very-good day, eating something special — a typical dish, a dessert, a delicious snack — manages to raise those spirits, I would love for you to share a recipe for that wonderful dish that makes the joy return and makes your day better.

I have always believed that taking care of our-self is our utmost responsibility in life. No one else is going to do that for us, no matter how big our families are or how bonded we are to each other, yet self-care is self-responsibility and should not be expected from others.

I have always been very mindful about my health and looks both and hence for me there are very regular things that I do for my self-care. I keep hearing of Cancer so often. Last year I lost a very dear friend of mine to breast cancer, it was devastating and she was one person who took very good care of herself and I still cannot figure out what went wrong.

I advocate strongly for good health and I participate in a lot of initiatives and campaigns also. One such initiative we carried out.

I have some routines of self-care against cancer. I get a yearly full body check up done and also the cancer test done, so if there is anything wrong in my body it can be detected at an early stage. I also go for regular massage therapies and I tell the therapist to make a good observation of feeling any lumps or anything unusual in my body. Twice a year I get my regular blood work done to keep a check on all my blood markers, if anything is going off track then I get myself checked up further more to see what is the issue.

As I am aging up, I am being very mindful about my sleep patterns, diet, alcohol consumption and my lifestyle habits. If there is anything unusual I feel with myself I take a step back to reflect and get myself checked up. I do not live in fear and at the same time I do not live mindlessly also.

Junking up is not my way of dealing with not-so-good days. In whatever situation I am, I am yet very mindful about my diet. So food good or bad is never on my list on any of the days good or bad. I am majority of the times balanced on my diet, there are very few times that I slip and then I take counter measures for it.

On my not-so-good days my therapy is being out in nature, like going for a walk to a beach or park or driving up to the mountains and spending time there. I like to be alone on such days and spend as much as possible time in reflection, prayers and meditation to relax my nerves and senses. That's my way of dealing.

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸
