I had checked out from the Hotel in the morning in Zermatt and then the return flight to Muscat was at night 9.30 p.m. I had a lot of time at hand, almost the whole day, so thought of visiting some place which would fall in-between Zermatt and Zurich. Bern was the best choice that I could make from all the other options. Actually, the initial plan was to take a train ride from Zermatt to Zurich - by the Glacier Express train, which goes through some of the most scenic route. Also, it's a slow train compared to the normal one, it would have taken us long time to reach Zurich, so there were no other plans made. Sadly, we did not get the reservation, then had to think of an alternative. I would in no way let my time go waste in the hotel room.
We left by 8 a.m. for Bern. On reaching Bern, we stored our bags in the locker room and then checked at the tourist information center as to which all places to visit. The lady recommended us a few places from which Rose Garden was one of them. We headed towards the Garden. The lady told us that there is no Bus going up till the garden and the last 600 meters uphill climb we had to walk up it. I am fine with walking, but hubby after his surgery does face issues in uphill climbs, but he did manage it walking up slowly. On reaching the Garden, we found out that there was another entrance as well and there was a bus stop just outside the gate.
I was not sure then whether the lady at the information desk was not aware of this or that she misguided us. We specifically asked her twice if there was a bus going to the garden and she mentioned No. Anyways, on reaching the top and resting for a while, hubby was ok, and then we went around the garden.
It is a beautiful Rose garden. It was raining when we reached, but still I enjoyed the place. Roses of Pink, Red, White, Yellow colors were there in the garden and there were other flowers also. Very well-maintained garden and a big one.

It was worth the effort climbing up this place. Bern is a very charming town. We spent around 5 hours in the city and saw a couple of places. It was worth the visit. I had visited this city almost 20 years back and had some faint memories of it. Visiting it again brought back those memories, though Rose Garden was the first time and it was an absolute delight.
