Hello everyone, yesterday the international day of the animal was celebrated at our little school. For those who don't follow me, I work with a group of 24 students aged 4 and 5 in a kindergarten. Yesterday I told a story with animal puppets that I have kept and then each of them took a picture with what they liked best for me to send to the country and then they drew the animals they like the most on a sheet of paper 😀
The date was chosen in 1931 during a convention of ecologists in Florence. The choice took into account the fact that October 4th is the day of Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.
World Animal Day is celebrated in several countries, through various events and initiatives. In schools, especially in pre-school education, activities on World Animal Day leave the little ones enchanted.
• A pet is a member of the family, who should be treated like people.
• Animals are our best friends.
• Happy are those who have the company of an animal, because they can always count on love.
• The wild animal is not the one behind bars, but the one in front.
• Congratulations to our animal friends, who put up with us all year without complaining.
Main objectives of the celebration of World Animal Day
• Sensitize the population to the need to protect animals and the preservation of all species;
• Show the importance of animals in people's lives;
• Celebrate animal life in all its aspects.
→ Why celebrate?
The relationship between human beings and animals is very old, as the latter serve as food for the former; are used as means of transport, such as cargo; as well as being great companions. However, although animals bring enormous benefits to humans, they are still not treated with proper respect and care.
On World Animal Day, many activities are held around the world to celebrate the lives of these beings so important, not only for humans but for all of nature. Awareness activities, such as those promoting the Universal Declaration of Animal Rights, are also carried out to make populations aware of the need to care for and protect animals.
Universal Declaration of Animal Rights
The Universal Declaration of Animal Rights was proclaimed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), at a session held in Brussels, Belgium, on January 27, 1978.
The Universal Declaration of Animal
Rights brings in its introductory text that all animals have rights, and ignorance, in addition to contempt, causes human beings to commit crimes against animals. The text also highlights that one should “teach from childhood to observe, understand, respect and love animals”.
→ World Street Animals Day
In addition to World Animal Day, there is also World Street Animal Day. The date is celebrated on April 4th, however it is not a date to be celebrated, but to raise awareness of the population. On this day, all animals that have been abandoned and that live on the streets are honored, and activities to raise awareness of the population about the plight of strays around the world are carried
out.
I hope you like it, see you soon friends 😀
