As some of you may already have known, one of my top goal for splinterlands is to build up a complete modern deck. Instead of just buying out all the untamed and chao edition, I plan to first max out my chao edition and then progressively max out the next edition which is rebellion edition. In this way, when the untamed edition is removed from modern format, i would also have complete modern deck and contribute greatly to my guild brawl wars especially. But even so, it is still a tall order to make this happen as it cost a lot to build all 2 editions. So I am always carefully using the most of my current resources to build up my goal. Let's have a look at my Splinterjourney so far.
Building Resources
Method 1: Renting out Cards
One of the top concern is how I built up my resources. Instead of winning more matches, I actually forfeit some of my top cards in exchange for constant generation of wealth. I have been lending out cards that generate quite a good amount of $$.
For example, I rented out my max level 4 Epona for 680DEC/day and max level Lir Deepswimmer for 356DEC/day. The autosystem is also in the process of repricing my max level kitty and yodin to be rented out. Surprisingly, this newly addition card: Immolation is able to be rented out at 434Dec/day. So far, these are usually the top cards that I rented out for quite a long time.
- Level 4 Kitty
- Level 4 Yodin
- Level 4 Lir Deepswimmer
- Level 4 Chanseus the Great
- Level 4 Epona
- Level 4 Valnamor (non modern)
- Level 8 Shieldbearer
- Level 3 Kralus
- Level 6 Ithain
- Level 6 Axemaster
- Level 8 Lorna Shrine
- Level 4 Coeurl Lurker
- Level 2 Kron the Undying
- Level 4 Agor Longtail
- Level 4 Runemancer Florre
- Level 6 Grenadier
and the list goes on. But as you can see, when I rented these cards out, I am facing a huge drop in winning rates. In fact, there are a lot of times when I lost to others because they have these cards to counter me. Nevertheless, I dont have regrets in renting out these cards as they really provide me a constant stream of income resources to further build up my deck.
Currently, I am earning about 5k DEC/day from renting out my cards. But during silver modern fray brawl, I may need to rent like 2k Dec/Day for 2 days.
Method 2: Using SPS airdrop from SPS staking
The staked SPS will generate rewards. These rewards come in the form of SPS and vouchers that you can immediate claim and use it for own purposes. Unlike other rewards from ranked matches, brawls, daily chests, end of season chests, licenses, after claiming the rewards from staked SPS, you can immediately sell or concert the vouchers and SPS. So I would usually sell the vouchers to DEC or hive and use the SPS for a variety of purposes. For now, I am mostly converting these SPS to DEC to prepare for land and purchasing more rebellion sets/cards.
Method 3: Using SPS from Liquidity Pools(Retired)
I use to constantly build my staked in LP. So that they could continue to give me SPS rewards. Similarly to staked SPS, the SPS rewards from liquidity pools are available for use straight away after claiming it.
Previously, the 2 liquidity pools that I focus on were
- DEC - SWAP.HIVE pair
- DEC - SPS pair
However, due to the rebellion presale, I had to exit both of my liquidity pools and use the fund for the presale.
Method 4: Tapping on the interests from HBD saving
I have converted quite a portion of my crypto portfoilo into HBD. Currently, I have put these HBD into HBD saving to enjoy a delicious APR 20%. Every month, I would take out the HBD generated from the interest and one of the key uses for these HBD is to build more Splinterlands assets.
However, you can only claim the HBD from the saving once every 30 days. And after that you would still need like 3 more days to withdraw these new HBD from the HBD saving before you can use them. So sometimes you may need to plan in advance for events with limited duration like a month or even lesser.
Progress in Card collection
Soulbound reward cards
One of the constant grinding is to collect the soulbound reward cards from the focus chests.
By going to the Splintercards website, you can actually check your progress on these soulbound reward cards. As you can see from my screenshot above, the progress for my soulbound reward cards:
Rarity | Foil | Completion |
---|---|---|
Common | Regular | 95% |
Common | Gold | 49% |
Rare | Regular | 85% |
Rare | Gold | 42% |
Epic | Regular | 65% |
Epic | Gold | 33% |
Legendary | Regular | 58% |
Legendary | Gold | 33% |
So I am only halfway in completion for legendary cards. As for gold foil cards, this will be the most challenging quests and definitely need purchases. I may aim for complete set for gold foil common and rare as they are usually cheaper. I may not be keen to purchase gold foil epic or legendary at this moment.
Chao Edition
You can also check with Splintercards on what cards are you missing from completing the modern deck.
From the above picture, you can see that I have completed all the rewards cards from Chaos Legion foil.
One thing I would like to point out is that the scan is only for regular foil. So for example when i do a scan for my chao legion core edition, the picture below showed that I still have 3 cards yet to max out, but when I check with my collection, i already have these 3 cards completed in gold foil but not for the regular foil.
So do take note of that when you do the scan, otherwise you may end up buying unnecessary resources.
As for the Riftwatchers, I already have max out the edition after quite a long amount of time.
However, I am still saving money for the riftwatcher because they just announced the fifth and the last riftwatcher airdrop card: Inevitable
I most likely would only get 3 bcx, so I need another 8 copies of Inevitable to max it. Given the stat and ability, I hope Inevitable should be on the cheaper side of legendary airdrop and wont be like Immolation. So I think I may need to reserve $80 for the 8 bcx. So happy that it is the last airdrop.
Sadly, the Splintercards cant scan for promo cards so I actually still have one missing cards that I yet to get. I am still missing the powerful waka but given that it is costing $200+, I dont foresee I would be getting it in the near future as I still need to reserve a big portion for land and upcoming rebellion set.
