Photographic Stress

It all happened so fast. I was in the kitchen. I looked out the window. I saw her.

She was in a very convenient position to be photographed. Along a branch, stretched out, but at the same time ready to try a jump. The light on her body was even and allowed her bright color to glow in the coolness of the morning.

For a moment, I lost track of time and space; I went limp. In a few seconds I recovered from that inaction and realized that I had the jar of coffee with milk in my hand and also my mouth open, like a jamo (my father would say) and that is: an instrument consisting of a net in the shape of a bag to which a long handle is attached and is used for fishing.

Imagine it.

I jumped like a pen spring. Hurry up! -I said to myself- the camera! 🤷‍♀

Before I had it in my hands, I tripped over everything in my path, almost lost the little toe of my right foot on a skirting board. Fuck, what a pain, mom (de madre esto), I shouted.

Guess my slanted eyes were already two balls from playing Yaquis (Jackses).

I got to the hallway. Turned on the camera, at least it had the 200mm zoom lens on.

Insert the card again, it said. Fuck, fuck, fuck.

{Me at the limit of stress}

She wasn't going to wait for me anymore.

I turned off my camera, removed and inserted the SD card. Oh, yes, everything in order (I sighed). She rushed off to... I don't know.

Where are you?

First photo (a piece of shit) 😒

I don't want to miss the opportunity. My head is a mess. I don't have enough light according to the camera settings. Switch to speed priority, turn up the ISO, a little voice is screaming at me from inside my brain. I can't shoot on auto, she does what she wants and you don't want that... the camera, you know, it's a perfect idiot. 😖

_1310979.jpg

I think I've accomplished something. Oh, but... what is it? Get out of there you little squirrel, you rat... move on. 😩

Finally I can get this. It's not a great photo but at least it gives me a chance to show here, a little better, its bright orange color.

It's true what Maximo used to say, we had squirrels in the neighborhood. This is the first time I've seen one. It has caused me some stress but it has already visited my yard and I am sure it will do so again.

I am actually very happy.

Oh wow, you managed to capture an image of the elusive, Cuban tree-climbing fox. Amazing!

Well, nothing, it has been an odyssey. Besides, the last photo, which is supposed to be the good one, is not much good either. The problem is that, apparently, these elusive Cuban tree-climbing fox have escaped from the zoo and have reproduced, which is great because we can enjoy their company and their foxiness.

🤣 ya sabes, las carcajadas aquí no paran.

Well, out of all the different types of foxes I like this one the best...Looks like a squirrel but that's part of its charm and appeal.

ya sabes, las carcajadas aquí no paran.

Never-ending laughter is a good thing right?

Sure! 😁😍

Haaaaaa haaaa haaaaa!... What a way to tell how these photos were taken!... "Squirrels", they are almost as fast as light, as well as intelligent and extremely nervous!... It has been a good result after all ...

They are very adaptable, I guess they have found some food source in your neighborhood and moved there... Please be careful with "Yim" because the cats are fast enough to "eat squirrels" :( and you may run out "model" to photograph!

Nice post! Thanks for sharing @nanixxx friend!

😕 Yin would eat that beautiful squirrel? Oh, no. More stress. 😩

😜 Gracias amigo! So as I tell it it was, and I have omitted some minor details about the loss of silence and peace around my yard an hour or two later. But perhaps I'll tell that story another time.

Hey, I like the three pictures, the first one is very magical because of her little face and the fact of being hidden, besides, it was a lot of effort you made to take the pictures, so here I am to appreciate them as they should be, it can't be that you almost killed yourself or lost a foot to get a great shot hahahaha, that is a passion for photography 🤣

🤣 ¡Ay cómo me dolió!

But since I usually live in today, I couldn't miss that moment.

And what if he or she (porque no sé si era hembrita o varoncito 😅) didn't come anymore? You will understand that this was quite an event.

Thank you, my friend. What a joy to have you here.

Always grateful, friends!

Very good post, very natural. You have to walk fast with those neighbors, could it be the same slippery one I tried to photograph? Ha,ha. Could be.

Muy buen post, muy natural. Hay que andar rápido con esas vecinas, ¿Será la misma escurridiza que traté de fotografiar? Ja,ja. Puede ser.

😂 Who knows? Or maybe they are related...

Thank you!!!

🤣

GREAT. It was dificult for you to take the phothos but at the end you get it

🙃😁

Good luck! You were able to take the picture. Luckily you didn't lose your little toe 😂. In consideration the squirrel posed for you. Where I work there are a lot of squirrels that live in the trees around and it is very difficult to take pictures of them because they are so fast. Best regards.

😅
That photo, the last one, was my best shot. After that, there was no way it could stand still. And in that picture, the focus is on the branch and not on her. Too bad... but I wanted to tell the experience about taking a picture of something so elusive.

What a cute little squirrel. You are attentive to the little things. Very nice pictures. Best regards.

Always my friend ;)

Thank you. Saludos para ti.

Thanks my friend.

almost lost the little toe of my right foot on a skirting board.
Ouch, that hurt haha

Now I understand when people say it takes them many hours to take a perfect picture, the stress doesn't help at all 😢

But we can see the little orange color and his little face saying "what are you doing?" haha

Very nice pictures ❤️

Hahaha... 😑 it hurts.

You have captured the essential idea of this post Buhito: photography is patience and waiting, also of course one wants to take part of these moments when you see something as evasive as a squirrel... but most of the time it doesn't look good and then you have to settle for the idea. So there are historical photos, of high relevance, that are not technically accomplished but tell a great story.

I will wait for her to return to my yard, maybe she will become my friend and pose for me.

;)

What a way to laugh with your post 🤣🤣🤣.

my mouth open, like a jamo...

I was transported back to my childhood, that's what my grandmother used to tell me when I made that face 😆.

...almost lost the little toe of my right foot on a skirting board. Fuck, what a pain, mom..

I'm sure there were some words missing there to be written 😂😜.

Maximo was right. In your neighborhood there are several squirrels, they live all over that area. Just yesterday @eddyss was trying to photograph some, but achieved little 🤭.
They'll come back to your yard and you'll get the photo you want. These served their purpose and I had a lot of fun in the process. Thanks for telling your stories.

Have a sunny day 🌞.

My dad -he encontrado una nueva forma de decirle (PapáEnzo)- is from Pilotos, those are phrases from Pinar del Río.

Pues yo no las había visto en mi patio, y mira que siempre estoy con los ojos posados en los árboles...

;)

I also wish a sunny day to all of you out there, in the next neighborhood 🌞.

...is from Pilotos...

Ah!! todo explicado 🤭.

When I was in the botanical garden I saw a lot of squirrels, I couldn't take a picture of any of them because they are so fast hahahahaha

What great pictures @nanixxx , I loved them, that look of mischievousness hahahaha

Poor your finger .... it happened to me because I was in a hurry hahahaha

You want that your eyes were cameras, not to waste time by searching for the objeto. although biological function as chambers. But refer me to the device that permits obtain you images and later it reproduces the just as it is are. Always have a picture within reach, there you list an image to be perpetuated with your lens. How please you the animals, always try to speak with them/it and it paint a portrait of the.

Animals are wise 😉.
They know how to give great life lessons. We don't observe them enough, so we don't know or understand many essential things.

¡Un abrazo!

I did not know there were squirrels in Cuba. What a wonderful surprise!

😁 You see, we always bring a pleasant surprise!

¿NO? 😵

Thank you very much @ackhoo and @qurator Team. 😍

hahahahahaha I understand you, we've been through the same thing, I read you and it seems like it's me.
I think they are populating Havana with squirrels. A little while ago one appeared by the tree of the house in Marianao.
How cute she is, just like Ofelia. Yes, because in this mania of humans to name everything, I gave that name to the squirrel, is it the same? Actually we don't live so far away. Maybe I'll make a post about it, so we can compare.

They all look alike. All the squirrels are the same 😅

I was thinking of giving her a name and several names came to my mind: Guillermina, Rosa Luisa and Mandarina.

What is the male of the squirrel called? Squirrel the same? @galenkp, help here. Ah, ya it is elusive Cuban tree-climbing fox. 😁

I love Mandarina. Ardillo macho, I could also be an ardille but I don't even get involved in those topics.🤣

🤣 ardilla - ardillo - ardille (Makes sense)

🤦‍♀😂🤣

I felt that anxiety as if it were me. A squirrel? Awesome! Every thing happens to you, @nanixxx, you are a being of light, I hope you see that animal again. If it has come to your patio, it is because your energy is good. Watch out for Jim.

Well... I hope so, the energy thing... I hope that it comes back. And actually what I would like is to have a whole family of squirrels in my yard. They are so cute.

A big hug. Talk to you soon. I'm going around with a lot of Magazine work and Hive stuff and organizing issues here at the house. I was thinking about a vacation away from it all.
