English

Cocoa is one fruit that we don't talk about very often, though it is important in the production of tea which I believe almost all of us enjoy. It's amazing how the spotlight artist of this week chose to place it in the spotlight.

I remember very much how I used to enjoy the fruit when I was much younger and was told that it's seed was used to make tea. I was surprised, as in taste the tea I took was nothing really like the cocoa seed I tasted when I heard that. It was such a disparity in taste. I learnt it required processing before it could get to the point where we could enjoy it.

Life at times is like cocoa. It feels good to be alive (like the fruit tastes good) but the work needed in getting the best out of ourselves and life itself is not easy; it is bitter like the cocoa seed. We hardly enjoy sowing, but the reaping is often worth it if we sow worthy seeds.

I want to encourage each and every one of us to keep up the sowing and to not test the seeds in themselves as they could be bitter. Let us process first and then our tea will taste good afterwards.

Also, we cannot enjoy the tea as such until God 'sugars' it. We sow, we process and God gives taste at last. Let us sow in Him, knowing that without Him, life will be tasteless but with Him, even what is bitter is sweet.

My song is a local Nigerian pidgin song which says God butters my bread and sugars my tea. Enjoy.
I also hope you enjoy the weekend ahead!!
The lyrics are from memory.

Lyrics*
Na bigi tin bigi tin Jesus dey do for me(2x)
He helep my papa
He helep my mama
He buta my bred
He sugar my tea
He nack am for devil
Give am gboza for head

Lovely playing my friend! 👏👏👏

I wonder what Na bigi tin means.

Thanks a bunch my friend @alex-rourke! Sorry I'm responding late...na bigi tin is a Nigerian pidgin English expression which means "it's a great/big thing". It means God has done great things for me. I should have included that in the post😄

Beautiful entry bro

I enjoyed every bit of this presentation. I was just smilling listening to you blow that sax in a very lovely manner. By the way, because of you, I'm going to make my next entry in #HiveOpenmic with a saxophone. This is a very traditional song here in Nigeria. I'm so dumbfounded how you could manage to remember such song. It's indeed a perfect song for this week's event.

I want to encourage each and every one of us to keep up the sowing and to not test the seeds in themselves as they could be bitter. Let us process first and then our tea will taste good afterwards

I love this expression bro. Thanks for allowing yourself to be prompted by this theme for such great work. Cheers @nathcy. 🥂
