Today is World Photography Day. Honestly I did not know until a friend of mine messaged me saying Happy World Photo Day.
If you don't know, why we celebrate today, you can follow the link above to learn about it.
How to celebrate this day?
There are plenty of opportunities of sharing your photos or submitting to be featured on World Photography Daily. And that's what I did. Why not joining too? Check the link and you can submit your photo too.
Because my passion is birdphotography, I chose a photo of a baby owl to submit. This one.
I had the pleasure within a month to watch the family of the Long-eared Owls in our park. First time seeing the two babies, they were as fluffy as it shown on the picture. I could say, they were the cutest among all baby birds I have seen. Well hidden on high branches and perfectly blending with the tree barks, one can miss them and never to realize we have such awesome neighbours. After the little ones became fully fledged and ready to take care for their own food I suspect they moved away from the park with their parents. Living in a town, but in the outskirts, gives me the opportunity to see so many birds just right next to my doorstep. Another great opportunity is the location of my home - on one of the main migratory routes in Europe. I am not exaggerating by saying that hubby and I only have to look through the window or go on the terrace and we have a view of the thousands storks flying above our heads.
Storks leaving, just a small fraction of the huge flock.
There are little less than 100 species of birds I have seen and photographed and most of them from our neighbourhood. Some of them seems to be just short-term visitors. Like the wryneck, a rare bird, who happened to be noticed accidentally once or twice per year. Interesting fact about the wryneck - it is from the woodpecker's family, although it doesn't look like them. Small as a sparrow, easily to be confused to be one of them, especially if you have weak eyes like me.
Today is also Caturday and I would love to share my latest photos of the kitten that decided to settle outside my office. He is extremely friendly and melts our hearts.
I always say that cats are very good models. They can be patient, only if they want to, and let me snap cute pictures.
And that is all for now.
