In my option the nicest place in my city is a section of the Brisbane River between the Kangaroo Point Cliffs and South Bank. I just love the view from the top of the cliffs of the ever changing central business district. I could watch the city river ferries all day, making there way up and down the river delivering people to work and showing tourists around.
There is still a fair bit of green space even right in the middle of town with the city Botanic Gardens located at Gardens Point as the river wraps around under the cliffs.
There are many new buildings since I moved to this river city 25 years ago. It was right around the time the South Bank area was hosting World Expo 1988. I had a season pass to the world expo and I was really happy with the way Queensland Government redeveloped all the commercial expo building into parklands and even a beach in the middle of town.
We now have brand new casino complex at Queens Wharf. My son actually worked on it for part of his electrical apprenticeship. It goes well with Brisbane nick name of BrisVegas. In the photo below it was still under construction and we still have not checked it out properly.
This area can get busy on a nice day, but we like to pick our times. There is even has a parkrun that runs along the river and over one of the foot bridges into town.
You can still see the some wild life as well.
