Children and the Environment

A clean environment is important for the well-being of everyone in the community but especially to children.

Why?, and How?

Children loves to play outside the house with their peers and most times , as they play, they are more likely to play on the ground, pick up items with their hands, making them more vulnerable to diseases and germs.

Dirty play grounds and parks pose serious threat to health of children as these public places maybe littered with dangerous objects such as broken bottles or glasses, and other sharp or dangerous items which may cause serious injuries to kids when they accidentally come in contact with them.

Clean, organized spaces help children focus better, aiding in concentration and learning, which is why schools and play areas benefit from being well-maintained. Additionally,When the environment is constantly cleaned and organized , children are less exposed to harmful bacteria, reducing the risk of diseases like diarrhea and typhoid, which are leading causes of illness and death of young children.

Today, while I was doing some laundry, I noticed some kids from my neighborhood happily playing and rolling on the ground with their friends. However, their joy was cut short when their parents called them back inside, as it was unsafe for them to play outside. The environment we live in is dirty and has become even worse after last night’s rain, leaving behind stagnant water, which attracts mosquitoes.

It was sad to see these children being restricted from doing what they love. Often, their parents yell at them to stop playing outside because of the risks.

After doing my laundry, I decided to clear up the mess left behind by the rain. I gathered dirt and bottles that had been scattered, and disposed of them properly. This is my small contribution to keeping the environment safe, especially for the well-being of children who may not understand the importance of safety. If others joined in, our environment would be a lot cleaner, allowing children to play freely without exposure to germs. Below are some pictures of my cleaning activity.
