For most people, being financially broke has become more like an everyday thing in this era. As money is coming in, it’s going out, like the sea washing away the sands on the shore. It’s no doubt that we are all facing the hardships in these times. Money is hard to come by and there’s always bills to pay and things to attend to.
The year is almost coming to an end and as we are in the month of festivities, everyone is hyped up to have some fun, connect with friends and family while also releasing some stress. But in doing all that, money must talk. As they say, if you don’t have money, stay in your room. So, if you’re wondering why I’m in my room today, you know now.😂
Everyone loves December because it’s the month of enjoyment for everyone. Here in Ghana, there’s always a dozen of shows being organized here most especially by musicians and they’re not for free. You’d have to pay some money for tickets and all the extra stuff. Everyone’s wants to have a detty December. But what most people forget is, in as much as you want to have a detty December, make sure to not have a broke and sad January.
In December, salaries usually come in very early due to the holidays. I know people who attend every show here in Ghana. They’d literally post themselves at every event in December and come to beg you for $2 in January. Funny right? I believe all this could be prevented if people learnt to manage their finances wisely during these times. Everything gets too much at this time of the year and this is why it’s very important to map out a plan for the holidays and budget your money wisely. You can’t have all that money and not have a plan aside always splurging.
The same way we think about the month ahead on a normal day when we receive our salary, we should also learn to keep the same energy in December. Personally , I prefer to be at home enjoying during this time and given the place where I find myself now, there’s no detty December. The only thing I can do is watch others having fun and say awww. So for me, I believe I’m on a safer side because it’s more like any normal day or time for me.
Regardless, I still make sure to have a plan for the month, allocating funds for everything I need while also not forgetting to set some funds aside for emergencies and savings. Saving is very important in the life of every adult because the money you save today can save you tomorrow. No one wants to start a new year broke, so let’s try our best to manage our finances properly so as to not find ourselves wanting and begging people for petty cash at the beginning of the year. I hope this helps someone out there.
