Motherhood is like a school where learning never ends and there is also no specific time to graduate 🤗. Even till our old age, we still care for and nurture our grandchildren to represent us well.
Ever since I got married, my mother-in-law has been stressing the need for me to join the women association in the church but I have a different view about that. To me, the organization is meant for older mothers and not a young 🌱 mum like me and so I never gave it a second thought, in fact, I don't even process the information let alone put it into consideration. It's been 8 years since I got married with 3 kids, so recently I traveled to my village and it was an opportunity for my mother-in-law to have a heart-to-heart talk with me which she has waited for according to her.
My mom-in-law with me and my two kids
She began by explaining to me the importance of sharing ideas with my fellow mum through practical experiences even though every child is unique and behaves differently. she said that what we African new mums tag women association is not what it is but because we see it from afar, we conclude that it's just a mere gathering for financial contribution only. She went further to explain the interesting programs held by the women monthly and all are aimed at raising a responsible child, being a better mom for our kids, and being a good wife to our husbands.

Wow, that sounds so interesting! I didn't realize there was more to the women's gathering which is capable of helping my motherhood journey through the knowledge being shared there. At first, only the wrapper those women use to tie scared me away😊 and so I concluded that the association was meant for old mothers whose kids have grown and not just a starter like me😂.
Good enough, today I reluctantly decided to peep into the women's meeting and I was stuck with what I saw there.
Some group of women before the meeting began
Their teachings, monthly workshop, their monthly care to the priest as mothers, their routine cleaning of the church (optional), etc., all was reviewed and their performances so far kept me so delighted. Officially I am now a registered member and I hope to learn as many good things as I can learn from my fellow mothers. They have lots of interesting programs that will benefit every active mum and I wish to be one.
I am not regretting this decision as much but rather encourage every mum who thought otherwise initially. I have tasted and seen that iron sharpens iron, no one succeeds alone even in the motherhood journey. Ideas from each other are great and together, we will work in raising outstanding children for our generations to come.
Thanks for reading!!
