So there have been several models for running a decentralized protocol and I decided to come up with another or at least popularize the concept with my community. I have seen this model practiced in some way in other communities. It has succeeded in some ways and failed in others. So I would be trying the concept in a controlled space amongst a few people (who I think will benefit the most), and hope for the best. Hopefully, this will also be a learning experience not just for me but also for the participants.
So I started an initiative under the hive-naija communities called Q-n-E which stands for ‘quality’ and ‘engagement’.
Q-n-E is a curation initiative by nonsowrites to help new creators from Africa earn from their creative endeavours while exploring the hive blockchain.
The goal here is to provide positive reinforcement for newbies while they learn about hive. I understand that the learning curve on hive is quite steep and without encouragement, people tend to fall off a week or two after signing up.
One of the major reasons why I took on the role of the mod in the hive-naija community was to help newbies (and foster healthy relationships amongst the Nigerian community). Some of the major problems new users encounter on hive are exposure, engagement, and earnings. The Q-n-E initiative is geared toward solving this problem.
This is also a social experiment to prove or debunk my theory that many people are unwilling to do the necessary things needed to succeed. So I have been in the background reading and observing the community and trying to figure out the best way to address them (without going on another rant). I want to end the conversation about not getting support and I also hope that this initiative will help new users from Nigeria get acquainted with the hive blockchain and move on to other great things in the ecosystem.
So if you are a newbie (with rep below 60) from Nigeria/Africa and you are struggling with the problems listed above, join the Q-n-E Telegram. The initiative ensures that you get support for your creative endeavour (if you meet the required standards) and also support other newbies as well. It is basically a community by and for the newbies. My only role is to regulate and allocate upvotes to participants. Votes range from $1-$5. I will also urge participants to use relevant tags on their posts in order to earn second-layer tokens as well.

I won’t be around for the live sessions on telegram for now(any of the mods that are up for the task can take on the responsibility). I am brainstorming on the next phase of the channel. It was an initial success and helped a lot of people get started on their hive journey but there are a lot of other initiatives with similar goals. My goal now would be to integrate the group into the larger crypto community. I am in talks with other crypto heads on other blockchains, so if things work out as planned I am hoping to see new and vibrant members added to the community.
For now, I will be open to answering questions on telegram (please no private messages) when I am free. I will urge community members to communicate with each other. I can't overemphasize the importance of engagement and I hope these new set of community members can understand and use the power of engagement.
