Splinterlands and WOO get a lot of attention as popular blockchain games built on Hive. But the ecosystem actually offers a variety of other gaming options beyond just those two. After doing some digging, I wanted to shine a light on a few other games also providing fun, rewards, and ownership on Hive.
Enter the Crop Fields of DCrops

One of the first games launched on Hive, DCrops offers a fun farming simulation where you can grow digital crops and earn rewards. The game has its own fungible token, aptly named CROP, which you earn through activities like yield harvesting.
The game is structured in seasons, so you use NFTs like land plots and seeds to grow crops over 14 day periods. Once fully grown, you harvest and can sell your yielded crops within the game ecosystem during that season. It's an entertaining way to try virtual farming while earning crypto!
Gear Up for Adventure in Hashkings
If fantasy adventure is more your speed, Hashkings brings some role playing flair. It has similar farming mechanics to DCrops, but with a focus on growing marijuana plants full of crafty strains. The governance token here called BUDS underpins purchases, upgrades, and more.
There are ways to earn BUDS beyond just planting, like raids against roaming monsters. You can also stake BUDS for staking rewards and use MOTAS earned from burning BUDS for special items. With numerous strains, gear, and quests, Hashkings provides no shortage of adventure.
Target Practice in Bang Defense
For fast-paced action, Bang Defense tests your aim against hordes of attacking enemies. It's a tower defense style game where you blast away progressively harder waves using upgradable weapons. There's a leaderboard to compare scores and regular rewards in BUDS tokens based on your ranking tier.
With guns, explosives, sounds effects, and destructible terrain, Bang Defense should satisfy any trigger finger. And you earn crypto for blowing stuff up - what more could one want!
Explore the Galaxy in Exode
Finally, I came across Exode for sci-fi fans. This long-running RPG has you acquiring Crew NFTs to staff and upgrade a starship for intergalactic travel. Completing planets and missions earns you rewards and new NFTs along the way.
With many ships, crew skills, and gear to discover across the cosmos, Exode seems a great choice for space cadets looking to traverse the stars. The game has been steadily expanding too, so there's no shortage of content for galactic gamers.
While Splinterlands and WOO understandably get a lot of buzz, I'm glad I took time to uncover more gaming diversity present on Hive as well. Everything from farming, to battling, to exploring is represented - along with plenty of fun, ownership, and earning opportunities.
