High school swag.

We just gained admission into high school, and we felt we were on top of the world. Everyone must have, at a point in their life, felt like starting high school was something to be really proud of and something that shows you have leveled up, so for that reason, your circle of friends should change (if they did not move up to high school with you). How you do things, how you dress, and, in many cases, even how you walk has to change because you are now in high school, and you should move and walk like one in high school.

High school is one of those periods of one's life where they feel fly and on top of the world, to the point of doing the wrong things thinking they are actually the right thing to do. When you let the feeling that comes with being a high school student get into your head, you tend to do things; if someone had told you ahead of time you would do a thing like that, you would argue to the ends of the world on how you would never do such a thing. I also did not believe that at any point in my life I would be so full of myself; today it is funny how I was so full of myself for something that was not even a big achievement or worth the way we carried ourselves.

My friends and I were no exemption as after we gained admission into highschool everything about us changed especially our dress codes, sometimes when I remember it I laugh but back then it wasn't funny at all as we let the whole feeling of being highschool students get into our head and we thought it was the right thing to do but we were only being kids and doing what is expected of us as kids, we became a bit disrespectful to adults in the neighborhood and our good character deteriorated badly.

The way our character deteriorated really needed improvement as we started getting ill treatment from many older people in the neighborhood as a way to show how angry they were about our newly formed character and the need to go back to being the good boys we were known for, but I guess the pride of being high school students clouded our eyes.

"You and your friend should come; I need to talk to you." Uncle Charles, one of the elders in the neighborhood that have suffered from our newly formed habits, said.

"What have we done that requires having a conversation with Uncle Charles?" My friend Emmanuel and I kept asking ourselves.

"I have been watching you guys since after gaining admission into high school; your characters changed, and the number of people you greet in this neighborhood reduced drastically. Why is that so?" Uncle Charles asked, looking us right in the eye.

"Nothing at all changed about our characters or habits; we don't know what you are talking about." We echoed pretending to know nothing about what we have been up to.

"I expected you guys to say this, but I want to let you guys know that high school is not the end of life; it is just the beginning, and there is more to life than being high school students, and besides, you guys are not the first high school students, so lower your egos." Uncle Charles advised.

"We are sorry for our newly formed habits; we will do well to improve." Emmanuel and I said, assuring Uncle Charles of a change.

"I need you guys to pull up your socks, go back to being the good boys we know in this neighborhood, and even do more. I will be watching you guys closely, and I assure you I will reward you guys if I see changes." Uncle Charles said to get us to make a change and pull up our socks.

"Can we know what the reward will be?" We asked Uncle Charles.

"No, you guys should work on yourselves, and you will hear from me." Uncle Charles said, as he walked away.

We had to lower our ego on realizing that we were not the first people to start high school and will still not be the last to go to high school; it took the elders in the neighborhood we offended with our new habits time to actually get over all that we did and take us back in and treat us like they always do, and we were glad that they were kind enough to welcome us with open arms after seeing how genuine the change was.

This happens to most of the high schooler and university goer. The ego needs to go down because the truth is no one is that special but we need a reality check.

Lmao same thing when we first gain admission in the university but to be sincere there's nothing special about all this things
