Study Tips 101.

Hello, everyone.

I welcome you to my blog. Trust that studying is something that has become very difficult for students of this generation, especially with the evolution and improvement of technology. These days, students prefer to be on their phones instead of studying. Many are even addicted to their device and cannot be away from it for even an hour. I have seen people who, the moment their phone goes off, feel like a part of them is missing and they become restless until it is back on.

All my years as a student, I have never been the type of student that starts studying at the very beginning of the session. I tried it a few times, but in the end I came to the conclusion that the pattern of reading where you start reading from the very beginning of the session, semester, or term was not for students like me. I am using this opportunity to say a very big shout out to those who find it very easy to start reading from the very beginning of the session and hold onto that habit till the end.

Some times when I take a night walk around school, I see students burning the night candles and studying like exams are around the corner, and I am like, I wish the spirit that pushes them to do that could just attack me and possess me lol 😂. I really admire people who read every night and never get tired of it. For me to read anything and enjoy doing it, just know that exams are around the corner, as I would feel bored reading when there is no exam pressure.

So for me to study effectively and understand what I am reading, what I first do is to have a schedule that is less stressful and to have enough rest. That way I can assimilate better. A less stressful schedule where I have enough time to myself and whereby I am relaxed and there is no much pressure aside from the one that comes exams, then I am good to go.

Another way Is a summary of everything in another book, or piece of paper. I don't know if it is just me, but I can never read from a textbook and understand it, so I am forced to summarize everything in a book or a piece of paper, and from there the assimilation process starts. Summarizing helps to reduce how bulky what one is about to read is, and I know it's not just me that feels discouraged once what we are about to read is bulky.

This study tip is one I don't take for granted which is for a student to know when to stop; once you feel tired, don't force it. Those days I try to force it and I end up forgetting everything I have been reading earlier or even getting confused, so once I feel tired I take a quick break and come back to it when I feel ready.

Sort:

Exam's times push most of us to be reading, i hardly read in the beginning of the school session too, unless lt's on exam's time that was when I do it.
