Hi buddies,
It's no more news that is an expanded Champions league this term with 36 teams in 4 groups of 9 teams each. Yet you play a team just once and you are all listed on a table containing the 36 teams.
This automatically means more matches and I see it as too many games and it is taking a toll on the players.
It's funny because it's gonna be fans complaining the most when the players can't play because they're exhausted or even worse, perform horribly for the same reason. Even for fans the number of games nowadays have become exhausting. So a player like Rodri and others spoke on the effect that it is having on them physically and mentally in a game where losing leaves an open target for millions to mock you or same fans will be the ones complaining the most when the players can't play because of exhaustiom or perform horribly for thesame reason.
Having said all of the above, let me say[ in hushed tone], secretly I love this new Champions league system on it's on merit. Seriously, now it does look even more like a league of Champions.
It actually is scored like a league with as all trans are placed in one common table.
The ancient phenomenon called "home advantage" is put under severe pressure because you play a team only once.
Sequel to pt 2 above, everybody now plays with a heightened degree of the psychology that "a bird in hand is worth two in the bush". Fight today, you don't know tomorrow.
There's a greater sense of "me versus everyone" because you are all ranked in a general table.
...
It's now more like a real dog fight, a real slug fest, a league of warriors, this is the new Champions league.
