Hello friends,
Happy #FungiFriday to all of you.
I haven't paid attention to mushrooms in a long time. I just haven't seen them often in places where I know for sure they exist. Every now and then, I would come across a new mushroom location.
Today I'm going to share with you some recent finds, while the weather was still warm and humid. This year, the autumn mushroom season was extended due to suitable weather conditions, so that the change of autumn and winter mushrooms could not be observed. They all just appeared in the same time period.
Velvet shank mushroom
This is a typical winter mushroom that is most often found on the stumps of deciduous trees. One such stump is located in the park in front of the building where we live, which I didn't pay attention to until one morning it turned into the recognizable color of these mushrooms.
Turkey tail
I noticed another tree stump a few streets away from this one. There are several turkey tail mushrooms all around the stump and in the spot where a portion of the root system is exposed. It's been a while since I've seen a stump like this with so many mushrooms.
Sometimes it is not enough to look at the ground to find mushrooms. Some of them are located on trees at a certain height.
Oyster mushrooms
This kind of mushroom grows throughout the spring and fall, though it can sometimes happen in the winter, depending on the weather. These mushrooms can be found in the condition depicted in the photographs far more frequently because frost and cold weather quickly drain all of their liquid. The shape they formed in the picture reminds me of an elderly woman with her hair in a bun.
Wood ear
Another type of mushroom found on trees is the wood ear. It is very common and can be found almost year-round.
And finally, another species that can be seen around the stumps of dead, diseased, or cut trees. A darker color indicates that the colder weather is bothering them and that they won't stay around much longer since the freezing cold period has arrived.
That would be all for this Friday.
