### Over the years I have been fortunate enough to visit several mountain lakes in the Cascade Mountain Range of the Pacific Northwest. The ones I am sharing today are from both Washington and Oregon and is just a sampling of lake photos I have taken. Whether I reached them by driving or hiking they were all breathtaking views when I got there. So follow along and enjoy the scenery.
Washington
Lake Diablo in the North Cascdes National Park in northern Washington. The turquoise color is due to rock particles or glacial flour in the water refracting sunlight.
Ross Lake also in North Cascdes National Park in northern Washington. This is the southern end of the lake with the northern end some 20 miles away in Canada. In the summer of 1956 Jack Kerouac, the writer, spent 2 months as a fire lookout at Desolation Peak.
Blue Lake in the more southern portion of the Washington Cascades.
Oregon
Mt Washington over Big Lake along the Old Santiam Wagon Road in Central Oregon.
Lava Camp Lake near the summit of Santiam Pass.
The South Sister over Elk Lake along the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway.
Little Three Creek Lake under Tam McArthur Rim in Central Oregon.
North Matthieu Lake high in the Central Oregon Cascades. This one takes a little effort but the payoff is well worth it.
