Riley Ranch Nature Reserve - Canyon Loop Trail

in #hive-1555306 months ago

Join me on a tour of the lower part of Riley Ranch Nature Reserve, specifically The Canyon Loop Trail. To access the lower trail you have to take a short but somewhat steep trail down to the Deschutes River. The trail follows the river for a short way as it begins its journery out of Bend Oregon to the Columbia River some 100 miles to the north. So let's start the adventure!

rrcy-1.JPGAfter crossing the upper portion of the Reserve it is time to head down into the canyon. This picture shows a bit of the smoke that was in the air from a nearby prescribed burn. Luckily as I descended into the canyon the smoke became a distant memory.

rrcy-4.JPGThis connector trail to the Canyon Loop Trail below is called Robins Run. As you can see it is somewhat steep but luckily fairly short. Short will be gratefully appreciated on the way back up. 😁

rrcy-5.JPGAfter reaching the bottom a small map show me my location. I choose the south direction to start the loop.

Nice hike around the loop with much to see, excellent photography and the questions answer is No 1 and No 4 on the river photos.

Number 4 was the longest shutter speed. Had to set the camera on a rock and prop it up so as not to blur everything in the shot. 🙂
