It's that time of the semester again. Exams silently ringing their bells. I have people my age reading and studying already and here I am,still trying to drown myself in movies.
I recently just finished this wonderful anime,Blue Eye Samurai! And let me tell you this, it was worth every hour spent.

Blue Eye Samurai is a Netflix anime. It aired on the 3rd of November 2023. The series tells us a story about vengeance/ Revenge. It tells us about the story of Mizu and her aim to slaughter all the white men in Japan. Mizu(voiced by Maya Erskine) is a half breed, a mix of Japan and European, treated badly for being alive. She's a sword master who lives her life in disguise.

The animation style of Blue Eye Samurai was okay,it was 3-D motion graphics with hand-drawn textures.I loved the fact they tried to do their own thing uniquely, giving major references to important outlines in the plot as well as leaving things when needed. The series was animated by a French studio called Blue Spirit. I haven't talked about the fighting scenes yet. The fighting scenes weren't perfect but they weren't bad either. They were surprisingly really good.

I guess when you're used to top notch anime fighting scenes. It gets really hard to see something else that beats the feel, the taste of what you're already used to.
Blue Eye Samurai unfortunately is not deemed suitable for all eyes to watch. It's PG-18 unfortunately.
I was really hurt when I found some explicit contents in some episodes. I was really looking forward to rewatching the series with my younger sisters...
I'd give the series an 8 out of 10. It had a really nice story, major plot twists and still managed to squeeze a love story into it. Four out of five stars too!

Now,the animation gives a lot of reference to Japan and its setting is based on Japan but there's been this curious question in the air. Is Blue Eye Samurai really an anime? I have no idea the answer to this question. I'd love to read what you think about the series in the comments. And if you haven't watched it yet,I suggest you do. It's really good.
Thanks for reading🫶
