Over the years one matures certain things, you realize that people are not what they seem, that you could have done many things in a better way, and that money is not the most important thing in life, because the most important thing is good ideas.
I haven't been able to understand how I ever came to think that money made people rich... I guess it's a common mistake that most people make at all ages, but as I've gotten a certain age, I've become wiser, and I've seen many more things, and you know what the saying says "The Devil knows more because he's old than because he's the Devil." Such is the reality of things.
And in the midst of all this, I've realized that a simple idea, if it's a good one, can be worth much more than money, because it can mean all the money in the world, or no money at all. With a good idea, I can put together a project that generates many millions of dollars, if I am sure that it is a good idea and I fight to carry it out.
The money will come, because it is certain that if I have a good idea I would need money to carry it out, but being a good idea, the money would be very easy to obtain through several means.
So what should we do?
What we must do is learn to generate good ideas, to study, to learn more useful things every day that allow us to generate good ideas and, above all, to be oriented towards our goals. Because if we have a sense of achievement orientation, and constantly seek to have good ideas, and set the stage to achieve them, we will undoubtedly have them at some point.
A great millionaire was once asked what it took to achieve wealth in life; and the man just said "Have a good idea and carry it out". If we think about it for a second, it is truly true, logical and even incredible that most of the time people do not realize such a simple fact.
While many leverage banks to achieve wealth, the truly smart leverage ideas, and these ideas then allow them to leverage banks and achieve all their goals; but it is useless to leverage yourself through banks if your idea is not a good one from the beginning. On the other hand, if your project or idea is good, it is the basis on which you leverage yourself to get financial leverage. Ideas are like kinds of levers that allow us to lift large weights with less effort; but in this case they allow us to lift the obstacles that stand in the way of wealth.
I think it was the Italian philosopher Archimedes, who once said "Give me a foothold and I will move the world"; and he was right, but in this case I tell them: Give me a great idea, and I will move the world.
If someone is alone in a desert and doesn't have any water, having millions of dollars on its camel won't do anything, because what it requires at a vital level is water; and if someone appears out of nowhere and offers to sell it a tank of water, it is certain that this person will be willing to pay all his millions of dollars in order to get the water it needs.
Well, water is what ideas represent in this case.
The ultimate proof that ideas are worth more than money
The definitive proof that ideas are worth much more than money is that when someone has a great idea, someone always comes along willing to pay any amount of money in order to acquire the right to that idea.
It happens with companies, it happens with patents on inventions, it happens with everything. And to put a very common case these days, let's see what happens when someone creates an app, or platform or Web page that manages to penetrate the public. What happens in those cases? Well, if someone creates a website that then manages to get huge popularity, even if it has no real use in the world, but if it just gets people's attention; then surely someone with lots of millions of dollars will come along willing to buy said web page.
So sometimes a good idea is not based, as in the past, on practicality, nor on actual utility, but rather, by modern standards, if it is attractive or pleasing to current generations, it automatically becomes a good idea.
And being a good idea, we will securely obtain money for it, because whoever has money often does not have the ideas, and is looking for them, knowing that he needs them to obtain much more money in the future; but whoever has the ideas, it often don't have the money or the patience to carry them out or take them to the next level.
When we have great ideas, money will come to us by itself, and with ideas and money, wealth will not be able to resist our charm.
