Good afternoon, dear fellow adventurers!

Welcome to another edition of #wednesdaywalk , one of the cutest #hive challenges, that week after week @tattoodjay is in charge of bringing it to life.

Today I'm going to bring you some shots of the visit we made on our last visit to the port of the city of Mar del Plata. It seems unbelievable that of the many times I visited this beautiful city known as the pearl of the South Atlantic, only this time I have known the port of the city.

Bienvenidos a otra edición del #wednesdaywalk , uno de los desafíos más lindos de #hive, que semana a semana @tattoodjay se encarga de darle vida.

Hoy les voy a traer algunas tomas de la visita que hemos hecho en nuestra última visita al puerto de la ciudad de Mar del Plata. Parece mentira que de las tantas veces que visité esta hermosa ciudad conocida como la perla del Atlántico Sur, recién en esta ocasión haya conocido el puerto de la ciudad.

One of the attractions of the port, besides its gastronomy, is a colony of sea lions located on the port's South Breakwater. Most of these sea lions were recovered by the sanitary authorities.

It is very common for sea lions to get entangled in fishing nets and become ill as a result of having ingested plastics they find in the sea. Once recovered, these specimens are then released into the sea and end up going to a sector of this breakwater.

A curious fact is that in this colony there are only male specimens that once or twice a year travel several kilometers to another colony to reproduce.

Uno de los atractivos que tiene el puerto además de la gastronomía, es una colonia de lobos marinos situada sobre la Escollera Sur del puerto. En su gran mayoría estos lobos fueron recuperados por las autoridades sanitarias.

Suele ser muy frecuente que los lobos marinos se enreden en redes de pesca y se enfermen como consecuencia de haber ingerido plásticos que encuentran en el mar. Una vez recuperados, estos ejemplares luego son liberados en el mar y terminan yendo todos hacia un sector de esta escollera.

Un dato curioso es que en esta colonia hay solo ejemplares machos que una o dos veces al año viajan varios kilómetros hacia otra colonia para reproducirse.

At first, the wolves used to settle near the port's dock, an operational area of the port, which caused problems in the normal development of the port's activities, but little by little they have been displaced from the sector with the help of specialists in fauna, to take them to other sectors not only so that they do not interfere with the normal development of activities, but also to prevent these friendly inhabitants from getting hurt.

My daughters had never seen these animals so closely and were really fascinated, although the smell in the area is very, very fishy.

Talking to a person who works in the port, they told us that the health authorities monitor several specimens by GPS to know a little more about their behavior and to know which are the areas where they move around.

En un principio los lobos solían instalarse cerca de la banquina del puerto, una zona operativa del puerto lo cual provocaba problemas en el normal desenvolvimiento de las actividades del puerto pero poco a poco se los ha ido desplazando del sector con ayuda de especialistas en fauna, para llevarlos a otros sectores no solo para que no interfieran con el normal desarrollo de las actividades, sino también para evitar que estos simpáticos habitantes salgan lastimados.

Mis hijas nunca habían visto tan de cerca a estos animales y quedaron realmente fascinadas, aunque el olor que hay en el sector es muy, muy intenso a pescado.

Hablando con una persona que trabaja en el puerto nos contaron que las autoridades sanitarias hacen monitoreo de varios ejemplares mediante GPS para conocer un poco más su comportamiento y saber por cuáles son las zonas por la que se desplazan.

It was a nice place to enjoy with the family, in which we were entertained watching them sleep, swim and sometimes struggle to get a better place to rest. The younger wolves tend to be a little more restless and this often irritates the older ones who are more concerned about resting and not being disturbed.

It is always good to get to know new places and discover small details that we often don't give importance to.

Fue un lindo poseo para disfrutar en familia, en la cual nos entretuvimos observándolos dormir, nadar y en ocasiones luchar por conseguir un mejor lugar para descansar. Los lobos más jóvenes suelen ser un poco más inquietos y ello muchas veces irrita a los más adultos a quienes se los ve más preocupados por descansar y que no los molesten.

Siempre es bueno conocer nuevos lugares e ir descubriendo pequeños detalles a los cuales muchas veces no les damos importancia.
