So great to see.

I will also show you something in here that you might not know.
162.JPG

A part of the big trees has been cut down, and you can see the stumps next to the road. We actually came here to have a look if the Century plant's flowers were blooming, but no such luck as the strong sun has wilted the flowers already, so we were too late to see them and now the plant is busy dying. But there was much more to show you from the entrance to the farm.
As you will see below.

Tons of wood chips from the big trees that were cut down, were banked next to the road, and I caught a swallow looking for bugs.
189.JPG

But this is what I want to show you.

Now why do you think this haystack has water sprayers on it?
227.JPG

We have had some very hot days here, and to prevent the hay from combusting, or flaking in the heat the sprayers are necessary. An ideal moisture for the stack should be between 10-20%.
253.JPG

A tractor was working the land around the haystack.
230.JPG

228.JPG

242.JPG

And whenever a tractor works in a land there would be predator birds high above to collect scurrying rodents.
172.JPG

There were two Kites up above keeping an eye out for a luck.
175.JPG

We had a 6am-8am power cut and we arrived at this farm very early this morning. So, we had the whole place to ourselves, as the visitors will only start arriving after we were gone.
128.JPG

Of course, I have some other photos to show you in another post later on.
They say that the early bird will catch the worm, meaning that if you are the first at something you will stand the best chance of scoring. It is also meant for early risers. Well, we were here early, and we certainly caught some worms, be it birds with worms, goats eating beans, bunnies also eating beans, and some other sights.

There are many ways that one can spend the dark hours without power, but this is the way in nature that works the best for us. Our recent new Covid experience was not very pleasant, and in fact it was a bit unnerving, as we did not have any Covid the first time around. Fortunately, it did not last long and we have both recuperated after a short period. These are the unexpected things in life that can derail everything that a person works for. So, we find our solace in nature, and we simply carry on.

I hope you have enjoyed the story and the pictures.

What beautiful pictures. I love being able to look at the mountains that can be seen in the distance. What a beautiful landscape. I imagine it must be very rewarding to be able to work while surrounded by such beautiful nature.

On another note, I didn't know about the technique of spraying water on top of the straw. This is the first time I've seen it. Very interesting.

Cheers mate, fantastic post.👍

Thank you and yes, many beautiful scenes to wake up to every day. Those farmers are blessed to work in such a lovely area.

Glad that you now know about the need for spraying the bales.

This hay resembles the pyramid of the Maya Indians))

Glad that you see it that way!

Beautiful!

Thanks!

Me encanto su post.

Thank you!

Early bird catches the worm, clever kites know where to hunt when tractors are busy on fields!

Hope yesterdays rains eased some of the pressure you have been experiencing in the Cape, and thanks it arrived here last night on a North-Easter from the Cape with a couple of claps thunder. After last few weeks in extreme heat I am surprised we never experienced horrendous lightning storms.

!BEER

Amazing to see how they know that rodents will scatter at the noises of a tractor in the land. Very intelligent birds.

We had a few drops again today and it was lovely and cool outside. Glad that it also arrived there last night, and now you can breathe again. Strange that there were no lightning as usual.

!PIZZA

Still drizzling quietly outside which is a pleasure, soaking in the rain, not washing topsoil away. !LUV

Drizzling is always a blessing as the gardens and the fields also like it.

Back to hot and humid once again around Wednesday... Next squawk 🙃

Thankfully we will start the cooling down process for a few days. Today was 32C and it was a real fryer. At first the forecast was 22C for tomorrow, but it was soon changed to 28C.

Is the water over the haystacks meant to keep the hay humid so it won't ignite due to the heat at peak hours?

I'm sorry to hear you guys had covid, but happy to find out you are over it now and it wasn't that serious to being with fren!

Hi Eric, from what I understand, the moisture content is critical. I did not even know that haystacks can combust. So, they apparently have to keep the moisture content between 10-20%.

Thank you and we are glad that the new Covid was not as bad as the first one. The strange thing is that we didn't get the first one, but we must have been contaminated by someone. or something with the new one. Just thankful for the quick recovery.

!BEER

Ahh so it was indeed that, glad I stumbled upon this post and made a good guess haha

Either way im very glad it didn't escalate mate, somehow the people I've met here feel like old friends, so yeah, glad you are doing ok :)

Yeah, your guess was 100% correct Eric :)

Well, I think that we qualify as old friends and all good here now again and thank you for the care.

Nice and beautiful scenery, I love the pictures. 👍

Thank you and glad that you liked the post!

Yes I do. You're 🤗!

I myself am very fond of farming in this way and I also go into the village in the same way a couple of days a week to see the people working there. There is a lot of peace in life there and there certain birds also visit us.

So glad that you also like farming and it is wonderful to watch the expertise of farmers with all of their inventions. We learn something new every time when we go out there.
It is that peace that we also feel, and the birds are very intelligent.

Yeah you are right.

Hearing about COVID in 2024 feels so weird with so many other dangers around! But it's a thing that should never be neglected for sure, especially since many tend to forget about this one ever existing.

Well, we never expected this to happen, especially because we were not infected by the first Covid. Although the stomach cramps and the vomiting was bad, we were happy to get recovered so soon.
So we see it as a warning to protect ourselves better.

I've been infected twice by the first COVID, lol! But I still need to be more careful with my health 🙏🏻

Wow! Glad to see that you survived, and yes, you have to be extra careful in order not to be infected again.
