A few lovely new surprises in here today.
I love all aspects of nature and nothing can beat a Spring season with all of it's new life all over the place.
The first photo is a female Navy Dropwing (Trithemis furva).
Here was my first new surprise at the back Bougainvillea fence of our garden. I cannot decide if it is a Stream Hawker (Pinheyschna subpupillata).
Or could it be an Evening Hawker (Anaciaeschna triangulifera).
And this tiny Damselfly was another new one for me taken on the same bougainvillea fence.
A closer shot tells me that it might b a Sooty Threadtail (Ellatoneura frenulata).
The next two photos are the same Dragonfly in the first photo, but in different colorful settings.
I think that many of us know a male Carpenter Bee. He is not really a bee and I caught this one flying around guess where?
Yes, on the same bougainvillea fence in our garden.
This is a clean shot of the Carpenter Bee (Xylocopa caffra).
And finally, no this is not a cricket. It is a Garden Locust (Acanthacris ruficornis).
I don't think this is the same specie of the locust plague that we currently have further inland in the country.
Now you may ask why I am wearing gloves in this heat, as you can see in the last photo above.
No. I am not scared of the locust biting me, as I have picked up an allergy to direct contact with sunlight and I have to protect my hands as else rashes will form on them.
Amazingly in my younger days I used to go about in only boots and shorts and nowadays I have to cower in whatever shade I can find. Maybe my skin is taking it's revenge because of all the years that I bared it to the blazing African sun.
But such is life and it will not stop me from enjoying nature.
We hope that you enjoyed the colorful post.
And That's All Friends.
