Our best wishes to everyone during this festive period.
When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
Can you believe that this popular saying originated in the 1950s
"When the going gets tough, the tough get going" is a popular phrase of witticism in American English. The phrase is an example of an antimetabole.
The origin of the phrase has been attributed to various sources. It appeared to come from American football parlance, with the earliest published sources in the 1950s, including an article in the Corpus Christi Times quoting local football coach John Thomas in 1953, and from a 1954 article in the Santa Cruz Sentinel-News quoting coach Francis William Leahy.
Oh yeah, 2024 was indeed a very tough year, but just know that we all, or most of us here on hive survived.
The beaches here are packed by thousands of inland visitors and now the beaches are out of bounds for us, until the December holiday season is over. With my bad leg, we cannot walk the 6 kilometers to the beach anymore. Going down by car would be madness, as the roads and the parking spaces are all full to the brim. But it's okay, as we have the mountains and nature available for our relaxation requirements.
The year of 2024 was both a good and a bad year for us, as at Papillon, we received an international award from the USA for our work in the communities.
How was your year?
I took the photos at different times during the day, and there was no let up by the mountain's party with their white cloud hats. At least that was what took place in my imagination.
Finally, this was the scene as we returned from watching the mountain's festivities.
Christmas season is a time of reflections for me. I count the mistakes that I made through the year, the losses of family members, the gains that I have made, and so on. Peace in the heart is very important to me, and of course the work that we do. They say that Christmas is a time for love and joy, and I often wonder why it could not be so in all of the seasons. Yes, we have many excuses, but there are so many millions out there that have to suffer the heartbreak of having nothing.
Such is life.
Someone said that; When the going gets tough, the tough gets going, and we have repeated that so many times, thinking that we were invincible until life set in with its lesson to show that we are only frail human beings. Only as strong as the God given breath in our bodies. My message to all of you is to take care of your bodies, and refuse to overwork, as it brings along loads of stresses that only make matters worse.
Oh! and also, don't spend too much, as Januworry is lurking around the corner waiting for us. (A mile away from payday)
Peace and wellbeing to all.
I hope you enjoyed the mountain's party.
