And as usual, they are so cute on one's eye.
Not one, not two, but eight tiny goslings, plus a short video for you to enjoy.
The worries never go away, do they? Last season only one or two made it to adulthood, and this season it will be repeated, as the birds of prey will have a feast again. But as we look at their cuteness, it is with a bitter thought that little things like this will become a meal for a predator's baby. Never a comfortable thought, but nature's way of controlling the populations. In the meantime, we always enjoy watching them, as they are really special little beings.

They are Egyptian Goose goslings.

Cuteness overload!
Yes, mom had the same problem as last season. The goslings could jump into the water, but they were too small to get out, and the water was starting to get colder, as it is winter here.
So, we did the same thing that we did last year, and my wife passed me a wooden plank that I wedged into a corner of the pool to serve as a ramp for the little ones to get out.
Mom looked at us to thank us, and she asked me to go away, as she would not teach the babies how to go up on the plank while we were around.
And so, we left them alone in their haven.
I am sure that the fighting Egyptian geese that I posted in this week, was born here, and that's why they regard the place as their own territory. Adult Egyptian geese don't have many predators, except from mankind's dogs, and some wild cats, but the males are real fighters, especially when there are babies around. I also saw another fight of the geese that I will show you sometime. The farmers like the geese as they get rid of pests in the vineyards and orchards, and there are big flocks of Egyptian geese here.
