Today I will present another project linked to artificial intelligence that is part of my interest list.
NEAR
Although today Near Protocol operates in the blockchain space, its origins date back long before the AI hype. In fact, the company started as NEAR.AI in 2017, an AI company that had nothing to do with blockchain. Only in 2018 did the company start building the Near Protocol, launching the mainnet in 2020.
Near Protocol co-founder and CEO Illia Polosukhin will be on a panel at the conference titled “Transforming AI”, which will be presented by Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang. And that alone caused the price of the protocol's token, NEAR, to rise by 60% in the last seven days.
His presence and the launch of Near Tasks, an artificial intelligence (AI) facet of the business, have sparked discussions about whether NEAR will work closely with Nvidia in the future. The company is also the only cryptocurrency-related company that will present on the main panel of the event.
Before starting Near, Polosukhin was at Google Research, where he worked on developing models and tools that would eventually power AI.
Therefore, the company is perfectly placed to explore the union between two of the most promising sectors of the decade.
The NEAR token, in turn, powers the network and is necessary to use its services, which means that demand for AI tends to increase its price. Furthermore, NEAR, whose current value is US$7.93, is still far from its historic high of US$20, which leaves room for further appreciation.
