Formal or Informal Education? My Take as An Overseas Filipino Teacher in Seychelles

in #hive-1221082 years ago

It has been a rough journey since I decided to teach here in Seychelles not knowing that the reality of "education" particularly in a State School is way beyond my imagination. I was more exposed to International and Private Institutions even back in my country and in the Middle East.

As an Educator, I am not mainly grounded with wages but ultimately on how I can bring an IMPACT to my students' lives. Philosophically speaking, at the end of the day, education is never a guarantee for success rather it is an element or a tool to acquire something valuable in life. If you're taking Gary Vaynerchuk's side whether College is Worth it? Well then get yourself a degree.

However, in the real battle of our existence, even Elon Musk put the matter into his hand when he built Ad Astra as an exclusive school for his children. The curriculum is far more interesting.
Anyhow, I was tasked to write about the topic, Our Education: A Preparation for our Future" for my department yet this is written for what is the real deal here at Pointe Larue Secondary itself.

I wanted to put it in a very objective manner the best way I can as much as I believe Education is like a~~ passport to allow an entry into a particular country~~ by which you will be able to witness the grandeur of the world and a country's culture yet if you prefer to stay in the comfort of your geographical location, you might not need it somehow!

Our Education:
A Preparation for our Future

Have you ever thought about how powerful you could become when you educate yourself into something valuable?

Have you ever thought about how you can change the world when you abreast yourself into learning more about the beauty of education beyond measure?

Nelson Mandela once said,

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” If we won't use this weapon, we won't be able to achieve our mission and vision for the empowerment of our very own students here at Pointe Larue Secondary School.

My dear students, and colleagues, we will work hand and hand in order to preserve the preamble of our alma mater. To uplift the lives and the purposeful being of our existence so we can bring impact to other people in society. We have to give hope and love to our dear classmates, friends and peers even in the little way we can.

Our Education! Our Hope and Weapon!

Being educated entails a maximum effort to exercise good awareness towards society. Being able to gain a good education is like getting a passport for the betterment of one's life. It is everybody's HOPE towards a brighter future.
If you are educated, you can have an edge to raise or increase your monetary asset by employing to create more opportunities.

Education is our WEAPON to raise our standard of living. As Nelson Mandela had experienced, in a life of extremes, education was a constant reminder to fabricate HOPE for those who were losing their grip to see a prosperous nation and society

How Important is Education to our Students' Lives?

Education as a gateway for EMPOWERMENT to our students. It is without a doubt an essential element needed for their success. It will help them improve their lives through proper Career Guidance on what path to take for their financial, social and mental well-being.

In the context of Formal Education as it comes under a certain combination of rules and regulations, highly qualified and educated professionals abiding by its pedagogy, solely subject

themselves to strict discipline to FACILITATE a good learning and conducive environment for our students.

"Formal education will make you a living but self-education will make you a fortune, " as the famous JM Rohn stated in one of his talks about Learning by Doing. When parents are teaching their children to learn how to do something at home,

for example, cooking or even riding a bicycle, such acquired skills are tantamount for their kids to prepare in life. They may not abide by a particular syllabus unlike formal education does, but to succeed in life, one must be well-versed.
