Fifty years from now, I would probably not be here anymore. Thinking about how I have left behind everything is a strong feeling. Maybe my offspring will remember me, use my things, and look back to our memories, or maybe not.
In the last 10 years, our online presence has changed a lot. After the Pandemic it boomed. And after the era of open air, it kind of went in a new direction.
Our online life is ever-changing. However, the concept of making a digital time capsule gave me a few ideas about how I would represent my online life to future generations.
• My social media would be the first thing I would like to keep/share. I'm not sure if Facebook/Instagram will be in the market till then or how things will change. But what we have now can give a glimpse to our offspring/grandchildren to see more of our life.
• The second thing would be my hive profile. I have not been very active here but am now determined to be. I believe that as I express my emotions, ideas, and thoughts through words, they will be present in my future. Because they can look up who I was as a person, what my thoughts were, etc.
• I would also probably give them my Google/ cloud storage. There are so many memories, from my pre-married life to my motherhood, from my children's birth to how they are growing up. All this could be a digital diary for the future.
• Last but not least, I have a playlist on YouTube with all of my favorite songs. It gives me an interesting feeling thinking someone would listen to it and feel the songs, and would probably think about me.
Different social media, like Facebook and Instagram, have been a big thing in our time to keep our memories and our cloud storage. There would be many more in the future and some would be decentralised like Hive as well.
I know many of us don't have much idea about how our grandparent's life was. We have listened to many stories, but seeing their everyday life would feel different, I bet. We can do a favor to our future generations by sharing a glimpse of our digital life.
In the future, my life may not seem interesting to you. There may not be very significant things, but I bet there will be something that will catch your attention. With that belief...
