No one can say they didn't ignore the signs their mind and body are giving, or the universe at least one. Thinking we are making the smartest decision is a human thing. Fortunately, a turning point or a wake-up call happens in most cases.
I ignored so many things thinking I had time to figure out life and 'what could happen'; these two thoughts took me away from my correct path. That's part of the learning.
I was in a toxic relationship for over 6 years. He was my school best friend so I never thought he could be manipulative and some of his behavior is toxic. As I kind of grew up with such things. And accepted everything thinking that's normal.
Until one day, he hit me! We were in the middle of an argument, in a public place. And all of a sudden he pushed me and I fell to the ground. It was so embarrassing, I couldn't look up at the crowd. I went back home immediately.
It was a wake-up call. To be honest, I was trying to get out of his grip for too long but couldn't because of his manipulation and behavioral issues. That incident made it a perfect opportunity to not waste any more time on the wrong person and move on.
Another incident that I recently have gone through is about my health.
I have always been a healthy person without any major health issues. So I took my health for granted and ignored many signs. I thought they were temporary and I needed to be tough to not focus on them. When the pandemic hit, I got severely sick. I lost my job, lost my living place, and been in debt. Everything messed up.
I was convincing myself saying things will get better, I need to work more to fix everything. But it took a toll on my health and on my life as well.
After I got better, I started to truly see the life from a different perspective. I acknowledged what I was doing wrong and started to do things differently.
These two major incidents taught me some great life lessons.
We humans have something in our mind inbuild - "nothing will happen to us". We wait till everything collapses and then we get the message. Ignoring signs is never a clever idea. But we think we are much cleaver than the universe's plan. But the truth is, it's better to have a grip on reality and see things differently.
The subtle details that come with any event are what we need to pay attention to more. There are always some signs, we need to be observant.
