30000 Boeing workers strike and reject 25 % pay raise!

Boeing in heavy weather

The saga around the 737 Max hasn't been digested yet, and Boeing is already back in turmoil.
The complete workforce in the USA is on strike. And they are not going to accept just about anything to get back to work. They want better pay and better work conditions, especially after two years of high inflation.

Yesterday, the unions and Boeing came to a deal in which all 30000 employees would get a pay raise of 25 % spread out over 4 years. Seems like a pretty good proposition you would think. But not for the Boeing employees. They rejected it, with a whopping 95 % of the voters voting NO!

They want more, besides a pay raise of 40 %, they also want better work conditions and guarantees around that. So the strike is still standing. Nobody goes back to work yet.

Inflation has fall-out

This once again shows that high inflation is not only a problem when we are in the midst of it, but it has lots of fall-out. Some effects of it even take years to be felt. Here the problem is that the wages couldn't follow the pace of the inflation, and that is a problem in lots of companies. This could even spill over to other companies, especially if the employees get what they ask for.

Inflation has now dropped significantly, and interest rates are beginning to drop, we are still not at the end of the misery. The fall-out has come down completely yet...

Sincerely,

Walking out and not happy about a 25% pay raise? That's really insane considering the economic environment like we have today.
