Disgrace

This is a rant about my beloved football team, Cercle Brugge. Today we had to play in Europa Conference League in Reykjavik against Vikingur.

But our coach and technical director found it necessary to leave half of the squad at home and let us play with a B-squad against the semi-professionals of Vikingur.
It started well, after 15 minutes we scored the 0-1, but then shit hit the fan. Immediately Vikingur scored level and from then on they were the better team of our inexperienced and young squad. So, we lost 3-1 deservedly. And are now doing the walk of shame in Europe…

A disgrace for our 125 year old history… Arrogance that got punished, righteously!

Ashamed and embarrassed I am for this complete mismanagement!

    It’s truly frustrating to see such poor decision-making, especially when it affects a team with a 125-year legacy. While it’s understandable to rest key players at times, underestimating opponents and fielding an inexperienced squad can backfire, as it did here. Matches like these should be treated with respect, no matter who the opponent is. This loss not only impacts morale but also tarnishes the club's reputation in Europe. Hopefully, this serves as a lesson for the future: arrogance on the pitch never ends well.
