Italians devestated over “Spaghetti Carbonara” from… a can!

Should everything be commercialised?

If you ask the Italians, they will definitely say No!
But the inevitable has happened, Heinz, the multinational known for its ketchup now has made all Italians furious with canned “Spaghetti Carbonara”.

The famous dish is now available in cans from Hive and in Italy they find it blasfemy! You stay away from classics like this and especially carbonara because it is so easy to make. Boil some pasta, bake some bacon, grate a bit Parmesan cheese and crack open an egg and you have yourself a Spaghetti Carbonara.

No idea how it tastes from a can, but I will stick to the real deal!

Wow I like your way of thinking which is old school, tried and tested.

I went to a site by Heinz. It listed the ingredients as:

Pasta (45%, Durum Wheat Semolina), Water, Pancetta (1%, Pork (95%), Salt, Spices, Maltodextrin, Dextrose, Acidity Refulators - Sodium Citrate and Sodium Carbonate, Antioxidant - Sodium Ascorbate, Preservative - Sodium Nutrite, Smoked Sunflower Oil, Natural Flavouring), Cornflour, Skimmed Milk Powder, Cheese Powder Blend (1%, Contains Milk), Milk Powder, Sugar, Rapeseed Oil, Salt, Modified Cornflour, Stabilisers - Polyphospates and Sodium Phosphates, Natural Garlic Flacouring, Black Pepper, Onion Extract, Dried Parsley.

I avoid dextrose and maltrodextrin. I also worry about the polyphosphates.

I am not opposed to can foods. Unfortunately, most of these foods include highly processed ingredients.

BTW: Chef Boyardee was based on a gourmet Italian recipes. Their ingredients are too highly processed for my taste.
