Hive Fund, a grumbling ramble

in #hivelast year

I have never really had any strong opinion when it comes to the Hive Fund (DHF). The way I see it, it has very little to do with me.

This does not mean I won't vote or say the way I think something is stupid. US politics has nothing to do with me and I am quite happy to acknowledge that they are all retarded and should be shot with needles non-critically and bets placed on how many shots it takes to become critical say on a late-night gameshow.

That is to say I don't mind yapping about things I have no influence on.

DHF is just that, a place where if the cat's don't care the mice can play but one cat will wreck all your mousey ideas.

As I have recently read, and I paraphrase: "If you don't have the hive power, you are nothing."

That would be the core of DHF and Hive in general. That is also the core of the world and so be it.

I guess that can sound negative... Now that I think of it.

But the thing is many who in fact have nothing now are actively working towards something. It is part of the growth to accept those above you will think you are nothing. The sooner you accept it the sooner you can move the fuck along.

Anyhow, I think this post is for some thoughts on the DHF not some personal growth babble.

Them Proposals

Personally what I think DHF is for is really projects that directly benefit Hive. This may seem obvious but thinking of it a person might be inclined to want the DHF to fund projects merely active on Hive.

It is also not so much for projects if the only accepted proposals are an indicator. Most of the proposals are infrastructure based, and this can be indicative of Hive being a baby platform still trying to find its feet.

I guess slow and steady does it right. We don't have that active of a tech community as it is. I think the ones we do see and know of are pretty much rockstars or the kind that would build the fuck out anything given half a chance.

That is what blockchain is for I guess, if you aren't going to buckle down and build because you want to then don't expect anything in return.

It is no different I guess from what they call Venture Capitalists. If you want money from the DHF you either provide tangible infrastructure, possibly use AWS so your bill is 50% higher than anything else (like gov tenders) or you do in fact have a tangible money maker.

So it makes sense that most projects are infrastructure and very few are "money makers" , it is just the phase we are in.

If it was a money maker, I assume it would not be on DHF.

That would surely be the line between a business and a Hive project, and beyond that there's a difference between a Hive project and a DHF project.

Decentralized

It is technically the Decentralized Hive Fund... So should community projects that are smaller and maybe have an uncertain benefit if any at all beyond possibly "engagement" not be funded if the community wishes?

Sure, let the plebs vote. See how far that gets you. It is decentralized but still Proof of Stake.

So why would a person think decentralized makes a difference to anything? I tend to only think of decentralized as the way in which people get paid, if only because Hive is a blockchain.

Anyway, that is just my own quirky observation.

So how do I fund my Hive project?

I don't fucking know, do I look like a VC?

Does it benefit Hive via infrastructure? Then DHF.
Does it feel like marketing? Then self.
Does it have a longstanding Hive user base and pays for third-party servers but directly benefits the users via votes and perks which makes you look good? Maybe DHF.
Does it merely use Hive as a service? Then self.

The key takeaway I think would be to fund it yourself and don't think Hive owes you anything. Now obviously this is not a concrete theory but it helps to approach proposals and the DHF in general.

Personally, I don't think there is a project being funded that doesn't deserve it. There are projects being funded that rip the pond from under the duck when it comes to costs though. There are projects not being funded that maybe do deserve it.

That would be the last thing, to remember. Hive is subjective, it is all personal opinion, and the opinion with the bigger stick is going to squash all others.

Something like the DHF will always have the chancers, and some will be just good enough to make it and others will litter the proposal list with bullshit.

In the end most will lose because they need richer friends and not many friends.

It is decentralized but still Proof of Stake.

Exactly and my stake is fuck all so I have no say in anything that happens.

That might be fortunate, as the saying goes: "Weary is the head with a lot of stake." !PIZZA

I'd take those suggestions to the broadest perspective and write a book on how to live, if I were you. Clever you. As always

The sooner you accept it the sooner you can move the fuck along.
