Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires is one of the biggest capital in the world and have a rich history due to his radical and controversial history. Along military regimes as economic crisis, Argentina have inspiration in their suffering and that made a lot or artists as well. Nothing can create more artists than a crisis.

Among those artists born between controversy and polemic, Juan Carlos Castagnino shone. A painter and architect who was considered one of the artists who felt most sympathy for the common Argentinean and who managed to represent in his works the feeling he had for the people.

This fact is so true that the official governmental web page states that many have cataloged him as "the social painter", an artist who used painting to denounce and expose the various forms of injustice and inequalities. At the end of the 1920s, he was a member of the Communist Party of Argentina and, in 1933, he was a member of the first Argentine union of plastic artists.

Although he was born in Mar de Plata, Juan Carlos lived practically all his professional life in San Telmo, one of the most popular neighborhoods in the city of Buenos Aires, which is perhaps the neighborhood with the most artistic and cultural background in the whole city. In this neighborhood there are many museums as well as art and film schools.

Undoubtedly, this house represents both the appreciation that the painter had for Argentine culture and his great quality to achieve an impeccable aesthetic that also identifies his way of seeing art in general. It is a house designed by himself that contains in every corner a rich story to tell. I recommend going to this beautiful house if you visit Buenos Aires, as you will learn a lot about Argentine art in general.
