I am very grateful to be alive and healthy despite some experiences I had recently. Few months ago, I started feeling somehow but I thought it was something minor since I hardly fall ill. Considering that I'm not the type that likes going to hospitals, I decided to opt for my preferred option which is adequate rest and consulting a doctor online. The doctor prescribed some medication which were delivered to me via waybill, however, I didn't notice much improvement.
Two weeks ago, I decided to take some time off work so I could visit the hospital for a comprehensive checkup. On getting to the hospital, I had to wait a little while. There were several people in the waiting room and the doctors, nurses and other staff were visibly occupied so I took the time to observe everyone around me.
After waiting for some time, it got to my turn and I went into the consultation room where the doctor asked some questions. He recommended that I undergo a comprehensive blood test and redirected me to the laboratory. I had to wait a second time and by the time the test was completed, I was a little surprised when the doctor told me the result of the diagnosis. He said the test revealed that I have ulcer and proceeded to list several dos and don'ts.
I had never been diagnosed of such before so I was quite unhappy to hear the news. However, I knew I haven't been having adequate meals for the past few months due to a lack of appetite and tight work schedule.
The doctor wrote a long prescription for me and I smiled when I saw that he wrote 'Mrs' instead of 'Mr' so I pointed his attention to the mistake and he corrected it. He told me to get the drugs from the hospital pharmacy and I was lucky that the entire cost was covered by the HMO of the organization I work for.
The drugs were quite much but I made up my mind to adhere strictly to it because I know ulcer is a reversible health condition if well-managed. I encouraged myself and decided that I wouldn't let it affect my happiness and productivity both personally and at my workplace.
Last Monday, I went back to the hospital as advised by the doctor. I went very early so I didn't have to wait too long because only few people were around.
The doctor wrote another prescription for me. This time around, the drugs weren't much so I knew I'd complete the dosage in about a week. I was quite happy when he added that I do not need to come to the hospital anymore after completing the medication.
I am grateful that despite this temporary challenge, I am still alive and well. Even though the drugs have some few side effects, I make sure I take them as prescribed. I also made it a personal goal to eat regularly even when I don't feel like. Even though I like pepper, I had to reduce its intake. Since I live alone, it takes a lot of discipline and effort to achieve this. However, it is worth it because my health and happiness are very important.
Thank you for reading through. I wish you a wonderful weekend.🤗💯
