Hey there my Hive friends and followers!
I´m not a regular contributor to the Urbex Community here on Hive but yesterday, when I was exploring the Daleje Valley here in Prague, I came across something that I believe can fit in the urbex category. I just hope the ruins that I found are not already past the point of what urbex fans actually consider urbex because, as you will see in the photos below, the original structure has been decaying for long decades and most of it has already been taken over by the surrounding nature.
The ruins that this post is about are the remains of what used to be a mill that was standing on that site since at least the beginning of the 18th century. Over the centuries, the mill has had many different owners including the Trunecek´s family that owned the mill since the beginning of the 19th century until the end of the Second World War. It was this family that the mill was named after and has been known as the Trunecek´s Mill (or "Trunečkův Mlýn" in the Czech language) until these days.
From what I found on the internet, the mill was briefly used by some agricultural cooperative farm after the war but soon after that, it was abandoned and has been falling into disrepair ever since. After decades of dilapidation, there is not really much left from the original structure of the mill but it still looks interesting and kind of mysterious from the outside so I decided to check out the site and capture the ruins from wherever it was possible. Here are some of the shots that I took there.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures. As I already mentioned, I didn´t mean to visit these ruins, I was just on a little hike around the Daleje Valley, hoping to capture some nice pictures of nature for my nature photography challenge but even though it was already pretty warm and sunny yesterday, the vegetation is still in the process of slow awakening after the winter and there is not much greenery out in the forests yet so I ended up with photos of the ruins instead :)
But as I´m thinking about it right now, it probably was the perfect time to take pictures of the ruins because once the surrounding trees put on their leaves again, the ruins will not be as visible as they are now. In fact, the valley where the ruins are located is a part of a protected nature reserve and a popular recreational area frequented by the locals. The valley is a great place for hiking, jogging, cycling and even horse riding, I met some people on horses there yesterday too.
To find out the exact location of the ruins of the Trunecek´s Mill, feel free to check out the Pinmapple, I pinned it there ;)
