Hello fellow Splinterlanders!
In today's post I will be writing about the Dragon splinter which is one of my favorite splinter to play with. It's always enjoyable to receive a Dragon quest for the day.
I will be showcasing several battles this time around.

Rarity: ANY
Element: DRAGON
Attack: ANY
Abilities: ANY (you name it, dragons have it!)
All Rounder
The dragon deck is truly a versatile deck that can be used in many different scenarios and ruleset. The main reason being that the Dragon summoner can use Dragon type monsters and the splinter of choice. I will be doing a mix of different splinters in my showcase this time round.
PIX21's Fictional Lore
The dragon race were from a far off region, away from Splinterlandia. After a catastrophic disaster in the home of the dragons, the mighty dragon race came to Splinterlands, becoming masters of all splinters. With different leaders specializing in various arts and fields, the dragon race is able to mix well with Splinterlands inhabitants from numerous tribes.
Strategies
Normally I have a section here but to be honest, Dragons are versatile for all rulesets.
Ruleset & Mana Cap
Let's move on to the first battle showcase, the ruleset for my battle is Equalizer and Healed-out.
Ruleset | Description |
---|---|
Lowest speed monsters attack first | |
All Healing Abilities are removed. |
Based on the following ruleset my strategy is to utilize a slow tank from the dragon splinter and with sufficient health. I will also include several supports to my tank.
Positioning and Choice of Monsters
Summoner: Drake of Arnak
This summoner adds on armor to every monsters that I chose. I hope this will allow all my monsters to survive longer.
1st Position: Djinn Chwala
A level 4, this card has the Enrage ability which will increase the attacks. Although the speed will be increased, I am willing to take the trade off. The card also has Thorns at level 1.
2nd Position: Twilight Basilisk
I am going with a level 5 because of the "Stun" ability. This ability is really useful to stun the enemy's tank to prevent dangerous hits. This is in 2nd position as it has the "Reach" ability
3rd Position: Dax Paragon
This is a card with excellent synergy with Djinn Chwala. The "Amplify" ability increase the Thorn damage that will be inflicted by my tanks. This card is also really cheap in Mana so it fits well with this low mana cap game.
4th Position: Feral Spirit
I am using a low cost sneak card. It's a risk to use Feral Spirit due to the Reverse Speed ruleset but I am also thinking about increasing DEC rewards, which this card provides from the Gold Foil effect + Alpha card.
5th Position: Furious Chicken
The useful 0 mana chicken for the purpose of tanking hits. With my Drake summoner, the chicken is able to tank two melee or ranged attacks (without piercing) and with a speed of 1, this should make it the fastest card possible.
BATTLE Commentary
Round 1:
Let's look at the lineup. The opponent is a level 5 Tarsa which is excellent for me as I am aiming to inflict Thorns damage. The slow Living Lava attacks first in this ruleset and removed some armor from my Djinn. Note how the Thorns that is inflicted is actually 2 damage. Without amplify from Dax Paragon, the Thorns will only be doing 1 Damage due to Living Lava shield ability. The enemy Radiated brute also received nice Thorns damage. Tenyii striker failed to hit the super low speed chicken.
On my end, I was able to Stun Lava with the attack from Basilisk. Dax and Djinn together damaged the opposing Living Lava. However Feral Spirit misses the attack.
Round 2:
Sorry Living Lava had to skip this round due to the card being stunned. With a hit from Djinn + Dax, the Living Lava was killed. Scorch Fiend was eliminated by my Feral Spirit, while the armor for the chicken was taken out by Tenyii Striker. Sadly Radiated Brute misses, else that will be a suicide hit on my Chwala.
Round 3:
In the 3rd round, a single hit from Djinn Chwala decimated the Radiated Brute and Tenyii Striker showed up as the sole tank. A combination of attacks and thorns damage reduces Tenyii Striker to a measly 1 HP. Sadly Feral Spirit missed again and we moved to the next round.
Round 4:
In this last round, the killing blow is dealt by Dax Paragon on Tenyii Striker. Adieu!

A very neat victory. All cards survived! Dominating!!

In this battle, the ruleset is Holy Protection and Heavy Hitters. The mana cap of 58 is also really good for dragons as dragons have a lot of heavy mana cards.
For this battle my strategy is to load up on cards with Stun Abilities to maximize the effect of heavy Hitters.
BATTLE Commentary for Additional Battles I
For this battle we are up against a level 5 Obsidian from the Earth Splinter. I am fielding my beloved Goblin Mech (which has stun) and also the beloved Twilight Basilisk.
Believe it or not in Round 1, Goblin Mech actually killed the Unicorn Mustang in a single blow!
The single blow..
In round 2, although Goblin Mech was killed, I am able to kill the enemy's Mycelic Slipspawn. The damage from the opponent is reduced throughout the match thanks to Phantom Soldier's Silence debuff. In round 3, Mycelic Infantry was taken down.
Onwards with the slugfest, my cards were able to take out all enemies by round 6. The match was sealed earlier when Goblin Tower was the only card left as it became a tank which can't attack.

A simple Dragon vs Dragon battle with the Earthquake ruleset. My strategy is to choose a bunch of flying Dragon cards.
Victory was actually quick and neat with no deaths on my side
SYNERGIES and THOUGHTS
A recap of the excellent synergies used.
Thorns and Amplify
STUN and Heavy Hitter Ruleset
Anti Earthquake Cards
Dragons have a lot of cards with the "Flying" Ability.
Is it cheap?
Drake of Arnak is one of the cheaper cards in the Dragon deck to rent. Quix the Devious is also a great and cheap card to rent (just FYI). The older edition cards are sometimes more expensive so try to get CL dragon cards which tend to go cheaper for rents at the start of the season.
What do I like about Dragon most:
The versatility is great. Dragon splinter has many high mana cards but this battle challenge shows that the dragon deck is equally nice in low mana cap games and the abilities should be mix and matched well.
What I do not like?
Nothing. Nada.
Good buys?
I suggest Twilight Basilisks as that has a very good CP/Cost Ratio at the moment
Prices of the card per BCX is at an all time low again.
