Hello everyone,
I have been quite busy lately, and I was unable to enter last week's battle challenge. Actually all along I have in mind to do a Waka Battle Challenge so last week when the card is released and was SOLD OUT in 5 minutes, I quickly rented one for some trial and fun in the GOLD League.
I have some time to spare today so I decided to create a summary of few battle challenges based on my experience with Waka Spiritblade. Fyi the name is derived from the collaboration between Splinterlands and Waka Flocka Flame
I do think such collaborations are interesting and helps to get some publicity for the Splinterlands game as a whole. For me it's the other way round, I do not know Waka Flocka Flame, but now I do.

THEME: WAKA SPIRITBLADE
Rarity: Legendary!
Element: DEATH
Abilities: Grants the Poison Ability to All Monsters
The one and only summoner card that gives the poison ability to all cards! All cards are maxed, so a lvl 1 Waka is even rarer than... (it doesn't exist)
Abilities
I call it Master Poisoner, cause all the other monsters will be taught how to poison from Waka 😀
POISON
Attacks have a chance to apply poison, which does automatic damage to the target at the beginning of each round after the poison is applied. Reminds of the new summoner which will have the Poison feature!
Ruleset & Mana Cap
For the ruleset in this match we have:
Explosive Weaponry:
All monsters have blast
Target Practice:
All ranged and magic attack have snipe
The mana cap is quite good at 34 so we expect to see some high health monsters probably on the opposing team.
Positioning and Choice of Monsters
Summoner: Waka Spiritblade
The new summoner from the special sales, is a death summoner that only costs 3 mana compared to some legendary summoners which are 7-mana cards
1st Position: Haunted Spirit
It's an excellent tank with heal and magic reflect! Hoping to tank some hits and reflect some magic attacks when they come.
2nd Position: Prismatic Energy
Only a level 1 here but considering that the ruleset allows magic to snipe, I am hoping to reflect some snipe attacks.
3rd Position: Phantom Soldier
This is a really good card with Silence and with a good magic attack, I able to perform some nice snipes.
4th Position: Creeping Ooze
Keeping the Ooze in the middle for some slow downs and to keep it alive.
5th Position: Undead Priest
To reduce the enemy health overall so they will perish faster from poison or blasts!
6th Position: Lira the Dark
And finishing off with a high speed Lira the Dark with Opportunity. We should get some nice blasts and side damages!
BATTLE Commentary
Round 1:
The opponent is using a level 4 Thad which nicely negates some of the strength from my Phantom Soldier. Nevertheless, my melee and ranged attack was unaffected. First attack was from Lira the dark, with a 6 speed attack, it damages the Riftwing and poisoned it. Subsequently, my Phantom Soldier attacks Riftwing. Both attacks inflicted some nice side damage to Cursed Windeku and Sha-Vi. With another magic snipe from my Prismatic Energy, Riftwing returns to the underworld.
Since all my monster are much speedier thanks to the Ooze slowdown, my Haunted Spirit attacks, not only damaging Cursed Windeku but once again laying poison on the high health monster. Sha-Vi was killed in this round from blasts, without even being able to attack once. Undead Priest attacked the Ancient Lich and placed a drop of poison once more and the blast took out the 1-health life sapper. So far most hits are poisoning the enemy!
Cursed Windeku retaliates but my Haunted Spirit held on. Ancient Lich snipes Prismatic energy but with such high health, this is of no concern. Though Ancient Lich healed quite a bit from the blast damages. Sadly the hit from the Vampire successfully killed of my Haunted Spirit with the resulting side blasts.
Round 2:
At the start of the 2nd round, only my tank was killed. Poison effect kicks in at the start of this round! Ancient lich was killed by the poison while Cursed Windeku is left with only 1 HP.
A quick attack from Lira hits the Vampire nice and square, with the blast taking out the tank (Windeku). Final blow from Phantom Solder successfully kills of the Vampire.
🆅🅸🅲🆃🅾🆁🆈
Additional Battles I - Won
In this battle, the ruleset is Back to Basics (no ability), however with my rented Waka, everyone is blessed with the poison skills. Such results are some of those that makes Waka Spiritblade shines brighter.
Additional Battles II - Won
In this other battle, the poison ability enables the high health Cursed Windeku and Riftwing to be poisoned and killed earlier
Additional Battles III - Lost
In this final battle example, I lost as the poison ability is not able to kick in fast enough before my whole team is sadly wiped out.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Is it cheap?
It is renting at 100 Dec per day so it is not really cheap but rather pricey as there is no option to rent lower level cards. The price might be reasonable if it is used for higher leagues but not really suitable for Gold league players and below
Strategies
Waka is good to be used for battles that will most likely drag out longer. So we are looking at high mana battles. To use Waka effectively I think the key point is to spread out the poison so we are looking at Snipe, Sneak, and Opportunity as main abilities to focus on to pair with Waka and the use of magic so as not to miss.
What do I like about Waka most:
The poison! All there is to it!
What I do not like?
I guess my only complaint is that there isn't a lvl 1 version. That would have been quite sick in lower levels. Overall the card is good, but too expensive for me to use. Yodin or Llama would be better for diversity.
