Time for an introduction

in #introduction2 years ago

Hello world!

I've been a hive user for quite some time now, but I've never really engaged in the hive community activities, I'm a rather shy person and I'm often more of a lurker than a party guy, so most of my relationship with hive was based on Splinterlands, my first blockchain game.

Slowly however I started to discover the potential of the communities and the nice people on hive, especially thanks to the hive.pizza community (https://hive.pizza/) which gave me the needed push to start writing some post, and that's why I'm here to introduce myself, so please be kind with someone who's really struggling with stage fright! 😅

How I met crypto

Hivediv.png

I still remember the times when Bitcoin was just a crazy stuff for computer nerds who wanted to keep their machines running 24/7 just to farm some useless virtual token that would never be of any value.
It was really long ago, wasn't it? 😅

Of course the world has changed a lot from those ancient times and now crypto is a reality, more and more adopted for the most different purposes, so I didn't want to be cut off from this opportunity.

Crypto investing

As a young adult I lernt a lot about financial investments because I had to spend a lot of time at home because of a nasty illness without the possibility to work, and I tried to find a way to get at least a little income, so investing in crypto was a natural development to broaden my horizons.

Crypto were much harder and difficult to understand than stock markets and traditional finance, they can be speculative products but they also have a lot of functionality and they open a lot of possibilities in very different fields, so I soon started to see them in a different light, not just like a simple way to earn money, but as a real valuable asset that could change the world as we know it.

Blockchain gaming

A lot of crypto are linked to games, and discovering blockchain gaming was an awesome experience for me!
I always played a lot of games, even mobile ones, as many people do, but I was always frustrated by the fact that often you invest time and money in a game just to see the developers drop it all of a sudden, maybe because it's not earning them enough anymore, and all your efforts are just lost and vanished, worthless.

Blockchain gaming was different, it was all I had ever dreamed.
I could actually OWN my game assets. Terrific!
I soon wanted to discover more about this world, and even if I was a bit afraid to put hard earned money in some game that may or may not have a future, the fact that the value of the game's token is something that is worth both for the players and the developers helped me grow a bit of faith.

The first game I tried is Clash of Streamers

It wasn't one of the best, it almost looks like a meme and its mechanic are pretty boring and weird, but hey it was a chance to earn something without needing to invest, so it could be a nice start.

From there I started looking into more and more blockchain games, and that's how I learnt about Hive.
Nowadays I'm playing these games on the Hive blockchain:

  • Splinterlands
  • Rising star
  • dCrops
  • Hashkings

Splinterlands was my first and most important game, I started to dedicate time to it and in the end I also decided to invest money to both have more fun and also earn a small return. I started when the SPS tokens airdrop was already halfway, but I still believe it was a good move to stake some money into the game

Playing Splinterlands helped me discover more about other games, so I soon started to explore other projects and learn about different games, especially thanks to the Hive community and the Hive.pizza one in particular.
This also opened up my eyes and taught me that Hive is not only about games, but there's much more!

Discovering communities

Hivediv.png

The best crypto games I've found are all based on the Hive blockchain, and this naturally led me to start delving into the Hive ecosystem, its community and ways to get involved.

I'm still a newbie about this world, I must admit it, after all this is just my second post, and I also must thank all the people who encouraged me to write about my progresses in the games I play or other things that may be interesting for others to read even if I'm rather shy.
Mine are just the considerations of someone who's barely made his debut on hive!

I have however discovered how great and deep the whole Hive community is, how interesting and enriching is the idea of earning crypto by writing and the nice mechanic of having the whole community curating the articles that appear on Hive.
The decentralisation of the creative process of writing and copywriting is something that makes me hope that cryptocurencies won't just be speculative products, but could actually become tokens of great utility, developing ways to benefit a lot of people and helping them reaching goals they couldn't achieve in a centralised environment.

This is what motivates me to write, it's nice to earn some money of course, but the most rewarding thing is seeing your posts liked by other people and have the feeling that what you have to tell is actually worthy, not just randomly liked by mindless followers as in the most known centralised social media.

I have yet to understand all the possibilities that this ecosystem offers, how to use my hive power at its best and how to help the community by curating articles in the right way, but I'm confident that I will grow fast, especially with the help of all the friends that I made since I joined Hive 🙂

The family

Hivediv.png

As you may have noticed I'm not the most sociable person around, so writing about myself felt a bit awkward, but I'm still really happy to make new friends and meet nice people on my journey.

Since Hive and especially Hive.pizza (https://hive.pizza/) are starting to feel a bit like a family, I think it's obligatory to introduce also the other members of my family.

Which may also be a good way to get more upvotes due to cuteness overload! 🤣

Here's Mochi, my eldest one, called like this because it's exactly soft and sweet like the bespoke japanese dessert:

And this is his new younger brother, even if Mochi is still now completely sold on this small ball of fluff invading his territory, but I found him abandoned near my house and how could I not keep him? Look at his face! 😍

He actually still doesn't have a name, he's with me since little more than a week, maybe I could ask for help to the Hive people, who knows. I'm pretty terrible at naming things and living beings unfortunately, so every help is welcome!

Well, I hope this introduction was good and interesting enough and not too boring, I'm looking forward to learn more and more about Hive and grow both in term of friends and connection, but also in learning how to maximise my incomes and investments, which is something that would be especially useful for me since I have a little more troubles than what would be considered appropriate, so to say.

For now I'm happy to have tried this new adventure of writing, and I want to thank the whole @hive.pizza community for its help and kindness, @gwajnberg who was the first to encourage me to write, @indayclara from @ocd team who made me understand the importance of an introduction post and of course all the people who are becoming friends and all who will enjoy reading my posts!
