My today #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay is along QMB road in Lekki Phase 1. This very day there was a heavy rainfall and the shocking thing is that there is no drainage, so the flood is on the street. This is an urban area and an area of this caliber should at least have a proper planning.
It is very important for planning to take place before doing any construction. Before erecting a building the entire community are supposed to come together and decide the best type of drainage that will fit the street to avoid this kind of thing. Most people just erect building without a proper drainage system thereby causing flood on the street. Once the flood gets serious sometimes it can begin entering into the compound. Again, if the flood does not have a place to flow to or there is no enough sun to dry it up we begin having issue of mosquitoes since it is a stagnant water. Planning is very important. A proper adage that fits this situation is that they have failed to plan and in that case they are paying for the inability of proper planning.
I chose to take the photographs in both colored and as well as black and white. A very popular street like this should not be disturbed by flood. Another thing is that the rain was not extremely heavy. It was just a mild heavy fall that should not result into a flood. if it was a rural area I would not have issue with it. In all it is a very beautiful street without the flood.
