Dear friends, wishing you all a very pleasant and wonderful day! How are you doing today? It’s a perfect day to enjoy a sweet and delightful tea-time treat. To make the moment extra special, I’ve prepared a flavorful homemade delicacy made with rice flour, freshly grated coconut, and white rice.
This dish combines traditional ingredients with a simple preparation method, offering not only a burst of sweetness but also a nod to timeless culinary traditions. It’s the perfect addition to your tea table, guaranteed to bring joy to both young and old alike.
Materials Used.
1 Cup of rice flour.
1 Cup of Grated coconut.
1 Cup of water.
1/4 Cup of hot water.
Sugar 100g.
2 crushed cardamom pods.
1/4 Teaspoon of salt powder.
Two drops of yellow food coloring.
1/4 Cup of Well washed white rice.
The cooking process as follows.
First, place a pan on medium heat and add two tablespoons of sugar to it. Stir gently until the sugar melts and turns a golden caramel color. Be careful not to burn it! Once the sugar is caramelized, gradually add a small amount of hot water to the pan, stirring continuously to create a smooth mixture. Add the remaining sugar to the mixture and continue to stir until it fully dissolves and blends with the caramel.
Now we collect the grated coconut, crushed cardamom and prepare a sugar coconut mixture.
Place another pan on the stove and add one cup of water. Add a pinch of salt to the water and stir well. Once the water begins to boil, gradually add the rice flour, stirring continuously to ensure there are no lumps. Keep stirring until the mixture thickens and the water is fully absorbed. Once it reaches the desired consistency, remove the pan from the heat and transfer the mixture to a separate bowl.
Next make the boiled rice flour mixture into small balls.
Flatten each dough ball into a thin, circular shape. Place a portion of the sugar and coconut mixture in the center of the dough. Gently fold the edges of the dough inward to enclose the filling completely. Seal the edges tightly to ensure the filling does not spill out during cooking.
Take each sealed dough ball and gently roll it over washed rice grains, ensuring the rice grains coat the outer surface evenly. Place the coated dough balls carefully in a steamer. Allow them to steam for a short while, ensuring they hold their shape and set. After steaming for a few minutes, add a small amount of natural food color or a preferred color to enhance their appearance. Continue steaming for approximately 20 minutes until fully cooked.
This rice flour and coconut-based sweet is a wonderful way to bring a bit of tradition and taste to your tea time spread. The combination of natural ingredients and homemade care makes it a healthier and more delicious alternative to store-bought snacks. Try making it yourself, and don’t forget to share how it turned out. I’d love to hear about your experience and any personal twists you added! thank you have a nice day,
