Hello, gamers. Welcome back to my blog.
In my previous post on Hollow Knight, we got some nice gifts from Grub's father and then we went off to fight with a dream warrior boss named "Xero" who gave us more essence. And now we had a whopping 500 dream essence and it was time to go to the old lady, Seer and see what gifts she would give us for collecting all these dream essence in our adventures of exploring and killing many foes in Hallownest.
I was still in the resting grounds and entered an unexplored door which led me to a magical place where a shield was levitating in mid-air. I quickly collected it. That was a new charm called 'Dreamshield' and when equipped will revolve around the character to protect us from a hit. This could be useful in some fights.
But it cost 3 charm notches which is a bit expensive for me. I need to get more charm notches.
Seer's Gifts
It was time to meet the old lady, Seer and see what she gave us for collecting all those dream essence.
For collecting 200 essences she gifted us by opening a closed door. She is the only living member of her tribe so she could break this taboo of opening that door for outsiders.
For the 300th essence, she gave us a very useful 'Pale Ore' which can be used to upgrade my nail. I've been looking for pale ore for so long and didn't know she had it all that time.
She also gave us a new charm, the "Dream Wielder", this allows the wielder of Dream Nail to charge it quickly so we can use it in fights and whatnot. I didn't know hitting an enemy with a dream nail could fill your soul vessel. Maybe I read it but forgot about it as I rarely used the dream nail because of its long charge time. Now after this charm, I can use it more often.
Spirits' Glade
Spirits' Glade is a resting ground for many spirits, we get warned by a spirit Revek who is protecting all the spirits there and if we attempt to kill those spirits by dream-nailing them he attacks us with heavy attacks that deal double the damage. I am not sure if it is even possible to kill this one.
But here is a tour of the Spirits' Glade where I interacted with all the spirits, some of the dialogues were too fun to miss out.
I liked the Hundred Nail Warrior which only has 3 nails and reminds me of Zoro from One Piece...lol
There was a whispering root at the top right corner of the glade and you need to collect all the Essence that is spread throughout the glade.
Just below this Glade is a stag station room with a bench and you can save your progress here and can take the stag to go to a different part of the kingdom.
Getting more Charms!
I wanted to first go and buy a charm notch so I could use more charms at the same time. For this, I had to go back to the Forgotten Crossroads and navigate myself to the shop at the southeastern edge of the map.
I was short of one charm to unlock a new charm notch slot. So, I bought the Lifeblood heart charm first and then went on to buy the charm notch. Fortunately, I had enough Geo to cover up the cost of both.
After getting a new charm slot, my next target was to go back to the City of Tears and go seek the Nailmaster to upgrade my nail.
The Nail Upgrade
I made my way to the western side of the map, it was not a very long journey and I skipped some of the enemies. My focus was to reach the nailsmith as quickly as I could. Nail upgrade is not a small thing in this game and I was excited.
He wanted one 'pale ore' and 800 Geos to upgrade my nail. I was happy holding an upgraded nail. I talked more with him to see what I need for my next nail upgrade and he required two pale ores this time. I am afraid this is not going to be an easy task.
I got out to see the power of my nails and it feels much more powerful now. I can one hit kill many bugs and the tougher one that took 4 hits now can be killed by just 3. This is going to be of great help in boss battles that have smaller bugs fighting along.
The further east of the city of tears is a platform guarded by big and strong bugs. The last time I was here I went back but this time I had an upgraded nail and was ready to overcome this challenge.
He is called the "Great Husk Sentry" yielding a great nail and shell that works as a shield. The size of this bug makes it harder to climb up and go to the other side.
Also, it blocks most of my nail attacks and you only have a small window of time to hit it just after it has used its nail to strike.
I killed the bug with some patience and timing my blows right after its attacks and sometimes going over his head to strike downwards with my nails. They have a lot of health as well.
Into the King's Station
Defeating it opened a new section and I was in the King's Station now. After crossing a pool of water and a couple of other rooms on the right you would get to a resting bench.
Just beside the bench is a slot to unlock a new stag station. I still had a lot of uncharted rooms... almost half of my map is still incomplete.
The large stag beetle told me an interesting story of a hidden stag station named, the Last Stag. It was where he was born and raised. He wants us to find and unlock that station as well. He would like that very much.
Now I have a total of 7 stag stations unlocked. I wonder how many more stations are there to unlock in this game.
There were still many places to be explored around the King's Station. I killed a few more of those Giants guardians. They are not easy to kill. One of them was in a small room, holding a grub hostage.
Fighting them in small spaces is not easy. You don't have much room to dodge their nail attacks. But you can still jump over them and time your nail strikes downwards to attack them. Once in a while, they strike upwards too and their strike will deplete two mask shards which is very risky.
But they give a good amount of Geo as a reward when killed so they are worth the risk. Enemies in this part of the kingdom are rich and drop a lot of Geos when killed. I had 2K Geos again in no time.
My next goal will be to go to rooms above the stag station and explore the King's station further. There are still many more secrets hiding in this part of the kingdom.
