Hello and Welcome back to my blog!
Let me continue our survival Minecraft series where we tried to upgrade our diamond armour to the stronger netherite armour. We went to the nether to loot a Bastian and got a Smithing template. We used this template to make many of them but still needed to find the ancient debris.
After strip mining a lot in the nether, we found enough ancient debris to make us one netherite chest plate each. Not even close to what we were looking for but it would suffice for now.
We went out in search of some Bees to relocate close to our house. After all, we had a lot of beautiful flowers around our base; they would have an amazing time there, right?
We came across a weird village where all the adults were missing and there were just kids roaming around. After searching for a while we found one adult only. This wasn't far from our base either. Upon further inspection, this looked like the same village where we kidnapped two adults in our initial days. Just that we came here from the other side and the seaside house was a bit apart.
My conspiracy theory is that all the adults died from a likely zombie invasion or something and the only survivors were those who could hide in a 1x1 block hole or something. My other theory is, that all the adults went searching for the lost couple and they are still trying to find them in the woods. xD
But one thing was obvious this strange demographic has something to do with us. So, we gave them some bread just so they could grow quickly and make more babies and repopulate this village.
Let us know what is your conspiracy theory about why almost all the villagers are kids only.
We couldn't find any bees around that place. Now, I know the reason, it was the wrong biome and there were no compatible tree types there. The things you learn about Minecraft are so fascinating.
After returning back to our home we fed all the livestock and harvested our crops and sugarcane. However, we didn't need much sugarcane for making books now. There were a lot of cats around the house and we tamed a lot of them!
Look at those cuties.
Remember our plan to cover ourselves in the best armour? We need to mine a lot of rare ancient debris to do that and a good way is to use TNT to mine. But we would need a lot of TNT and it is made from two components sand and gunpowder. Sand is so easy to get by but getting a lot of gunpowder is an issue. It is dropped by the creepers which drops them when they die.
That's why we decided to make an automated gunpowder farm. We saw an easy tutorial from YouTube and started building it. We had most of the resources already.
It didn't seem to work at first so we fiddled with the lights removed all the light sources from the nearby blocks and went afk in a safe platform above this farm. There were a lot of creepers spawning both inside and outside the farm. We had a few hiccups where creepers blew parts of our farm but in the end, we made it and it was running as intended.
After a few minutes of AFKing in the above platform, we found a couple of stacks of gunpowder. This was going to be a gamechanger for us. We could now create a lot of TNTs and blow up the entire nether floor to get the rare block.
We converted all the gunpowder into TNTs and went back to the nether. Dig down to reach the Y level 13 and start making a long strip of mine and placing TNT in a regular interval. This works because all the other blocks will blow up because of the blast from the TNT but Ancient Debris is a sturdy material and won't break and we can easily see and mine it.
We had almost half a stack of TNT but it was too low to get a good amount of ancient debris. They are quite rare and only generated in chunks of 1-3.
However, this TNT mining experiment was successful. I did it once on my first playthrough but never made a creeper farm to get a good supply of those. But now that we have a farm we just have to afk there, collect a lot of Gunpowder convert them into explosives and blast off our way to success.
Our goal is to ultimately get all our armour and weapons upgraded to netherite. It is a huge task and will take a lot of blasting and mining in the nether. Let us know if you have done any TNT mining before for ancient debris and how successful was that operation.
