The other day, I remember reading through someone's blog about getting calls or texts and which one they preferred the most. That person had said that they hated both options, probably due to the fact that they were an introvert or something, but I remember asking myself the same question, about which one I preferred the most, but then I never really got around to answering it.
But now that I do think about it, I think I like them both. You see, when it comes to texting, I'm not really the kind of guy that would text you first unless I'm ready to carry the conversation, and by carrying it, I mean making it my responsibility to try to come up with topics to talk about when it seems like the whole thing is starting to get boring.
But even at that, I still need you to vibe along and sort of help me because I can't be doing all the work alone. But mind you, I only feel this way when I'm texting you just to have a fun nice conversation. Anything other than that and I really don't care, if I'm texting to get a certain information from you, the moment I ask you that question and I've gotten the answer I need, I'm gone.
The same thing applies to calls too. I've been in situations where someone from the opposite sex had called me and after exchanging pleasantries, they kept mute, expecting me to come up with something fun for us both to talk about. I hate that, because if I wanted to talk to you about something in the first place, I would have called first. So you calling me first means that you've taken that responsibility upon yourself and you have to see it till the end, while I offer supports along the way.
Don't just call me, say hi and then expect me to start stressing about what and what not I should say to you.
At the end of the day, I feel like I prefer having both and that it doesn't really matters if it's a call or a text, what matters to me is the other person at the other end of the phone and how good they're at holding a good conversation, because whether it's call or text, if the conversation is boring, I'm ending it quicker than you would expect.
