You might not know it to look at me, or the car I drive, but I am a Millionaire. Yep, a Starbits Millionaire. I had to buy about 60% of the Starbits I needed, and sure, since getting my Millionaire card a few weeks ago $Starbits value as a token has continued to wither like Iggy Pop at his 100th birthday in the desert. But, once I got that status, I had to get a new goal. So, I chose as my goal to be able to run the Millionaire mission every day. With the 10% bonus, meaning each mission can earn me 11,000 Starbits.
There are lots of requirements for this, but the ones that I have to focus on are:
- Using an abacus, a laser, and IBM Deep Blue supercomputer, make sure that you have basically 10x the number of fans as the number of Millionaire missions you have already run. I am not sure I have that right, but the mission log will tell you if you have enough fans. You can't run it without that, so just get more fans.
- Take your abacus and get an astrolabe so that you can calculate if you have .03 STARPRO tokens in your Hive-Engine wallet and/or Rising Star in-game wallet for each of the Millionaire missions you have run. Again, I am not sure if I have that right, but as before the mission log will tell you if you are going to get the bonus.
What this means is that every day I check whether the Mission log card says I can run the mission - if not, then I need to get an NFT card with more fans. Then I check if I will get a 10% bonus - if not, I trade more Starbits for more Starpro, wait for the block to update and see if I am ready to roll. Getting more Starpro is easy. But getting more fans without feeling like you are wasting money takes math. I don't have round-the-clock access to IBM's Deep Blue, so after my first go-round of trying to calculate optimal fans:starbits ratios while still not letting my Ego get out of check, I gave up.
My new solution is just to buy packs whenever the Mission log says I am not popular enough with the music-loving public. So today, I am using my proceeds from Starbits Millionaire missions to buy more packs so that I can run more Starbits Millionaire missions so that I can buy more packs so that I can run more Starbits Millionaire missions so that I can... wen lambo?
Anyway, I like the game and feel happy with my progress and the rewards/value I get, so no sweat. And, because I have a lifelong history of terrible luck, my expectations of getting anything good have been beaten lower than Iggy Pop's dangling sack at his 100th birthday in the desert. Or so I assume.
Without further ado, here is what I got in my opening of 12 Packs for 100,000 Starbits!

So there you have it. No Epic cards (of course!), and plenty of instruments that are worth not very much (of course!). I would point out that instrument prices start low, and then go lower and lower and lower and lower. I am not sure what the point of having them is after awhile, but P2E seems always plagued by use case challenges, and at least the pricing of instruments suggests they are not very useful. I know I curse quietly when I see one come up in a pack. Also, as many folks have pointed out, almost all the pricing strength I see has shifted to cards that deliver Fans. Period. That is kind of a bummer I have to say, because that big shift seems totally about trying to keep in the Millionaire mission space. If that is correct, it suggests that despite the weaker payoff for that mission now compared to when times were overloaded with value for the millionaires - and of course before I became one - that it is still the active millionaires who are driving the market in this game.
But, I must admit that this is about what I would expect for the immediate ROI in terms of card value. The cards are there, in my opinion, mainly to complete the missions and keep opening up new elements of the game for me.
