Texting Etiquette

Texting is now part of most people's lives, except for the ones who don't use browsing phones. Texting gives people time to think before talking, and that is the most amazing thing about texting, even though some people still say what they are not supposed to say just because they know you can't beat them on the phone.

Now, most people prefer texting to calling, so texting is the thing people use to communicate nowadays, which I don't find bad, but then some people have this nonchalance towards people texting; they don't reply on time, nor will they give you good responses as well.

So now let's talk about my texting rules. I have a lot of them, but then I will only share a few for today's prompt so that some people won't run away from texting me.

The first thing I don't accept when texting is when someone ignores my messages, and I have lots of people who do that, which made me find it hard to have conversations with them sometimes because they love reading texts and they wouldn't reply.

I have some who would give you a bad response as well, and when they see you face-to-face they will apologize, so those kinds of people are the ones I always avoid having a conversation with on the phone with text, because I can't take that kind of attitude from them, nor do I do it for others as well.

I have a friend who loves saying all sorts of things like you dey mad meaning you are mad during a conversation, and I never get angry with her because she doesn't take people's chats for granted, but one day I texted her, and Whatsapp showed that she got the message, but she didn't reply.

The next day she messaged me back, so I ignored her texts as well because I wanted to see her reaction. When she noticed I purposely ignored her texts, she didn't bother to call or ask why until the day we met.

She was angry, and I could see through her reaction that immediately she saw me, so I played the mature one and approached her to ask why she didn't reply to my text.

She said, "But I texted back and you did yours back, and it pained me because I had a gist for you, but because you didn't reply to me, so I kept the gist to myself." I burst into laughter and told her, "Next time, you shouldn't take my text for granted. If not, what you do to me is what I will do to you back.".

She apologized, and then we talked later. Ever since that day, she has never ignored my text because she knew I don't like it when someone ignores my text.

Meanwhile, I had a friend who I stopped texting because she didn't change after I approached her about how she always ignores my texts. I stopped texting her because I didn't want her to feel like I was forcing her to be my friend, while sometimes I just felt like saying hi to everyone, so I would text her.

More so, she doesn't like people calling her and texts she wouldn't reply to, so instead of taking such bad behavior from her, I stopped checking on her since everyone can live without each other.

I wouldn't do to people what I don't want them to do to me when texting, so whenever I see someone's text on my phone, I make sure to reply immediately because I get angry in real life when someone ignores my text, and that might affect our conversation as well.

When it comes to texting, I understand how painful it can be to get ignored. You can send a lengthy message and the person, hoping to get a response, and the person will reply after 24 hours. Very annoying.

It's very annoying because the person might ignore the message purposely, which I eventually get angry about in reality.

Texting is existing, but some just want to ruin the fun by ignoring ones messages, or giving a bad vibe with can be annoying, ones I noticed such people, I tend to just give them space for my own mental wellbeing.
