Every child once had a dream but unfortunately, some couldn't go in that line due to many factors which life has faced them with. In one of the books I am reading, I was made to know that every accomplishment, starts with a dream and not just a dream but one backed with desire and faith. These are the two ingredients that made every dreamer successful in what they do.
But here we are talking about the dream we had when we were small. Of course, not everyone would get to fulfil their dreams even though we all wished we could be what we wanted to be.
One of my dreams was to become a banker because I saw how one of my aunts used to dress up in her suits and trousers to go to the bank very early in the morning. I believed then that bankers are always rich and so, I wanted to become rich by being a banker, but life came through in another dimension.
I remembered helping someone handle a class during holiday coaching when I just finished primary school, the teaching job enthralled me so I decided to become a teacher. For what reason?
I want to impact knowledge. I saw how adults would always appreciate their teachers and talk about how they have come to meet their teachers even after finishing school, and once their path meets again, they would be happy introducing themselves as the students that were taught by them which would make the teachers proud of them too.
I have heard a story of a young boy who gave a speech mentioning one of his teachers who taught him in school and how the teacher imparted knowledge to him and the woman (teacher) was proud and felt like crying when she was being mentioned and honoured.
I want this too... I said to myself
I want children I taught to appraise and honour me too when they grow up and become successful.
Ever since then, all other dreams disappeared while I began working towards being a teacher.
I was given admission into the college of education and after then, my journey into my dream career came through. I taught a few children with my certificate and also did home lessons for many pupils. I taught at different schools before gaining admission for my degree studies.
I heard different testimonies from parents, saying I helped their children understand things they couldn't and I was happy to hear such testimony.
Today, my dream of becoming a teacher is still in my mind and I want to keep imparting knowledge and help to mould the lives of children especially the young ones who are just beginning to know about life. Their brains would still be fresh and knowing some things would be amazing to them.
I know my dream of continuing my teaching job continues especially when I would be called up for my NYSC and would be posted to a school. I promise to give my best and help these children become better by me trying my best too.
